  • second hand karizma or new gs150r

well friends i'm a newbie to biking and this is going to be my first own bike been riding dad's hh cd100 which is around 3years elder to me i'm 19.well my purpose is mainly city travel and ride to college(don't underestimate it friends need'a travel around 45-50kms a day).mileage is sure need'a be seen, apart from that i really like zippin past people.
well after going through all sorts of thoughts i wanna zero in on one amongst these 2.
also my dad believes the faithfullness of a hh more over a dog(no offences to the dog though!)
i would drive the bike as a part of myself and intend to own it forever
so plz frndshelp choose a good one n'd i'd own my ride to u forever.

    Topic Approved.

A new machine is always a better option. But, if you do get a quality second hand deal (which is somewhat tough), do go for the ZMA. However, looking at your primary usage, I would suggest you go ahead and get yourself a GS-150R!

I second Aryan. Go for GS150R. Low maintenance compared to a Karizma.

Karizma is the costliest bike to maintain among all the Indian bikes. Also you won't get good mileage figures. So choose wisely.

Buy a second hand Karizma only if you know that guy and you think the bike is properly maintained. The bikes at RamKoti looks good, you do not even know how the engine parts inside. Very risky to buy from there.

Karizma with ripping it gives only around 33 kmpl in city. With a bit sane riding under 5k rpm you can manage 38-40 kmpl; remember, no ripping, no red lining. On highway at 100 kmph it gives around 33 kmpl. At 80 kmph, it gives 38-40. At 60 kmph 45 kmpl is guaranteed.

The quality of the GS150R is good. Maintenance of GS is definitely lesser than Karizma. The spare parts of karizma are really expensive. Eg, the disc pads are 1750 bucks.

Karizma drinks fuel because its engine is 223cc and its power is more.

There is a thread on GS150R. Go and check it; there are some good ownership reviews about the bike.

Hh Zma is an awesome bike but stay away if its second hand, it may give u maintainance trouble.
Go for GS150R, see the thread of ownership. Don' t bother about spares, they are available, suzuki won't spoil their impression on new launch.

Ramkoti is the last place i would search for a bike!

                      just forget tht place!

as puneet said.....look at other options as well!

As per the choices which you have, go for Suzuki... Ramkoti is the last place you'd have to buy, paper-wise the bike maybe clean, but you really donno the quality of the bike, and since mileage is one of ur criteria, don't think you'll get the desired numbers from a 2nd hand Karizma... Go thru the ownership experience in the GSR thread and you'll get what you are looking at...

P.S: My dad's a proud owner of IND-SUZUKI {Red Color, the first set of Suzuki bikes that was launched in India back in 1985, the same bike in which Aamir Khan elopes with Juhie in QSQT } and even to this day, its in mint condition. Such is the reliability of Suzuki and has very low maintenance. Trust me, whenever i see that model bike on the streets, i speak to the owner of that bike and not a single owner is disappointed with it , everyone's proud of it...

You've hit the nail on its head Ravi. Now you don't even need to mention the cost of internals & cosmetics

Gokul, if you need economy and peace of mind about the vitamin M, keep the thoughts of a used ZMA away... for that matter, keep away from most higher CC bikes in the second hand market unless u know the bike's history.

Also, never doubt the reliability of a Honda or a Suzuki... unless you've got that rare bad piece! If the Suzuki's made by TVS are so reliable, those made by Suzuki having part suppliers the same as those OEM's of Maruti Suzuki cannot go wrong.

BTW, why no Uni/CBZ-X/Hunk in ur list? They are Hondas and some with the Hero prefixed!

You are hitting the nail very hard just don't compare those IND-Suzuki's with anything else... they are a class act. I have a higher regard for them over those CD100's with a Made in Japan Honda engine!

Theoretically yes (when you see the cost of spare parts), practically no .

well thnxx 2 u guys for tryin to solve my problem.
i sort of mentally rejected the foll bcoz:

                              cbz-x:looks suck,analog console

                              hunk:same as above

unicorn:really like the bike but quite old,ok lookks, analog console, comparatively gs150r seems to beat the uni as a package.

apache:it vibrates a lot at high speeds also guess the cost would be higher.
hmmmmm but yes its really worth considering as an option, thnx buddy

fz16:when i heard that the tank's a fake it really broke my heart
also going by comparisions the gs150r does beat in other dept. 'part frm looks

and most of all my frnds said that it may not suit my persona.
i'm 5'9,73kg's,average built nd hav dark complexion.
