• Best Used bikes Under/approx 1 Lakh Rs

    Hi guys,

I am in a dilemma of buying a new bike pretty soon just to upgrade from my Discover 125 ST. I am in my final year of graduation and I am very addicted to touring.

    My requirements :

    1. Comfort - it should be comfortable for atleast 500kms/day

    2. Low maintenance - main priority would be maintenance as it will be a used bike.

    3. Looks - it should be attractive as I like to be given a second look.

    4. Easy repair and spares - as I am planning to keep it for next 2-3 years I would require it to be repair friendly.

    5. Good lights - Yes. I do a lot of night driving so good lights are must. I may change it to HID soon, Till that stock lights should go good.

    6. Mileage - I don't worry much about that but avg of 30-40km/l would do justice for daily driving mostly on highways.

    7. Chassis - it must be strong enough to tackle smooth tarmac as well as rough gravels. I won't be going for much off roading, just simple rough roads.

    8. Braking - I am breaking as well as speed freak so I need very good breaking power. I am a big fan of petal discs. But anything with powerful Braking bites will do charm for me.

I am more towards Street naked's than a faired bikes as not much experienced with manevouring them in traffic.

My like are for - (USED) CBR 250 ABS, duke 200/390

    (NEW) R15, p220, new gixxer/sf, as200

For me linear power is a must and a stress free engine.

    TIA,

    Query Approved

If you are looking for used bikes, then you must remember the adage, 'Beggars can't be choosers'! You have to see what is the best bike available in the market at the time. You might buy a good bike one day, and the very next day see a better deal has come up. So it gets rather difficult for anyone to suggest what used bike to buy, without knowing what is available in your local market.

Also, my personal belief is to stay away from Dukes/ Pulsars in the used bike market, as both these bikes are generally used extremely roughly. A good deal on a Honda CBR would be ideal.

All the best in your search
Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

Says he prefers nakeds. Goes on to list 3 faired, and 2 semi-faired bikes.

        The Monk thanks for approving.

Thank you for sharing your valuable information regarding dukes/pulsar.

I will surely be looking for good condition bikes, mostly cbr only. If I don't find any good deal under/approx 1L I will upward my budget to 1.5L for new.

1 thing want to ask if I get a used machine say 2 years old and use it for next 2-3 years in proper maintained condition and sell off. Which one of these will provide me better bucks?

        Either cbr, duke, any other.

          :P

I do prefer naked ones but can settle for a deal on faired ones too. Main purpose would smooth touring

Do check the karizma. Can be ridden at 95-100 km/hr all day. Its fits your requirement.

As Monk is already mentioned stay away from an used Pulsar. For Duke I cannot comment. CBR can be a good choice which will fit your budget and requirements too.

Sorry for the OT but can you tell me what's linear power.

Also if u find a good maintained duke then you can go ahead. I've seen a few with just 10k on the odo sell for around 90k

By linear power delivery I mean to say it should be smooth and less viby without reducing the joy of riding.

As you know pulsar gets very rugish due to wear n tear.

                  I have updated my post.

My budget limit is approx 1 Lakh. I can go few K's up(10-15k).

I am looking forward to TD new AS200. Waiting for some more new bikes to come by end of this year. Hope they will be around 1L.

Young, enthusiastic boy is willing to get a good ride soon to take it to new terrain to enjoy to fullest.
