    Hi All,

Wanted some suggestions on a new bike.

    Currently own a P220F ( 2013 model )
Daily Commute - 160 kms ( Greater Noida to Gurgaon and back )
    Age - 37 years young
    Height - 5 feet 8 inches
Total monthly running - 3600 kms approx.
    Budget - low below 1lac.
Medical condition - Shoulder and lower back pain
    Average speeds maintained - 80kmph

Reason for changing/switch - P220F has become vibey and rough. Have been using Motul 5100/7100 but to no avail. Also the O-Ring chain has to be lubed every alternate days otherwise the bike runs like a tractor. All this resulting in fatigue and tiredness.

Considering purchasing a commuter ( have shortlisted Splendor and Shine ). Am fed up with the P220 condition. Have been an extensive tourer throughout my life, however sadly will need to tour on a commuter from now.

Please suggest a bike considering my daily running and also considering next year will be visiting Ladakh with wifey and luggage.

Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

How about Gixxer SF. I am assuming your commute will be predominantly highway. SF is a great commuter not only inside city, its built for highways, with the windshield (though smaller), you can save yourself from some windblast.

But you can cut down on the average speed a little though by a good 10-15 kmph. It will really take toll on such bikes. I guess they are not designed for such high speed for a prolonged time.

Having said that, SF should be an ideal choice and should be within your allocated budget.

PS: I have given this option considering only single person commute. Not sure about the rideability to Ladakh. may be the SF owners can throw some inputs.

Archer thanks for suggesting me the SF. I do 80% highways and 20% city. However there are variating conditions. On my way to office at 730 in the morning. There is minimal traffic all along. However the return journey is a different story from Gurgaon to Noida at 600pm. Once I hit DND all the GNoida is a smooth ride.
Considering that I am a bit sceptical on traffic manoeuvrability. I am pretty much used to the P220 front weight and length which btw is a pain to navigate in bumper to bumper traffic. How is the SF in this respect.
Also as far as speeds are concerned do you mean the SF cannot hold constant streches of 80 and a bit above.

Honnda Twister. Decent chasis, upright seating position, no fatigue, decent power.

Another option would be the Unicorn 160. Same as twister + more power.

Frankly speaking, I have never driven a Gixxer nor SF before. But, riding a 150cc mill constantly at 80kmph for good amount of time witll definitely stress/freak the engine out and you will be choking it for dear life, as it is little under powered compared to P220.

But, Inside city I am hearing that it is driveable and can be manouvered too. Dont know much about the dimension comparison with P220. But by looks IMO, P220 looks a bit longer on the wheelbase.

Thanks Archer...btw guys how do these commuter bikes perform on such long hauls. Everyday I see these Splendors and Discovers overtaking me at around 80 +and constantly keep those speeds on the expressway.
What I am looking for in a bike is to take the daily rigour and bashing yet not stress. My expectations with the 220 crashed. It has not been able to sustain the grind. I am to keep the bike for 5 years or so, hence cc does not matter but the durability.
Its a shame when these 100cc flawlessly cross me on the highways and my 220 takes time catching up with them!!!

Have you considered second hand CBR250?

Am not too inclined on 2nd hand bikes. Also am not too sure where to get one. Karol Bagh is not a dependable pool and do not have contacts who are willing to sell CBR's. Anyways do not see much of them on the roads today. It is indeed a good bike but falls in comparison with RE's. There is a lot of difference between them and I do not want to get into the RE bashing thread mode but RE's have their own charm. Have owned a TB AVL for 5 years and it was a sweet ride.

Have been looking into OLX and Quikr for 2nd hand RE's but what is sold at my price range is mostly CI's. Also there would be no dependency on loans/EMI. Anyone in Delhi/NCR who is going through this thread and would like to dispose a RE UCE/CBR do post me.

                    Sir,

I would suggest you fz v2 or unicorn 160 both of them have lesser power but are trustworthy and can do easily long distance, only thing you have to sacrifice is cruising speed but it's not slow either.

                    Ride safe 😀

                      Re: New Bike

How about Avenger 220. Have ridden the Avy 200 in Goa. Was very vibey considering it was rental but overall comfort was good.
Heard the engine would be swapped with the NS engine. Any issues with the spares availability.
Understandable there is not much difference between the P220 and Avy 220 engine except it runs in a different tune but have heard Pulsar engines going kaput in 2 to 3 years. What about the same engine in Avy. Any feedback on that.

Those commuter bikes may go 80 but then they have a lot of vibes. Since you drive long distance i wouldnt suggest those commuter ones. Start by test driving Gixxer SF, CB Unicorn, Fazer, CB Trigger. Can also wait for Honda Hornet. Unless you TD you wont know much to decide.
