  • Duke 390/200 or wait for 250?

    Hey guys,
I am Ravi from Bangalore. I drive a Yamaha fz-s which has already clocked 54k kms and I feel it's almost time to upgrade. I love the street bike nature of the fz. I mainly use it for daily city riding and weekend getaways with my Enfield brothers. The longest I did was a 600km trip in a day on my fz but have went longer on others bikes.

The first thing that comes to my mind is the duke siblings. It's suits my budget. I kinda inclined towards the 390 but it will just be an over kill of its power as for my use and low mileage. Practically the 200 makes more sense for my use but I feel it won't be much of a real upgrade coming from a 150 and I will be bored of its power soon enough. Plus I plan to keep my Yamaha baby with me.
Now that the 250 has been launch in some countries and it will be in India soon like 2015 end or early 2016 according to the Internet and it makes a lot of sense. It will just hit the sweet spot for those who are confused like me. So guys please give your thoughts of the KTM Duke 250 and should I wait for it?
    Thank you.

    Regards,
    Ravi

    Query Approved

With the number of auto websites which throw up innumerable 'rumours' about launches, it is hard to believe even the truth from them

If you are planning to keep your FZ, then i would say go for the 390 if withing your budget. You can use one for commuting and the other for fun!
Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

Give your details here if you want to help your fellow xBhpian stranded in your city

Just go with the 390, really not much point in waiting for it. Pulsar CS400 was rumored to release this year since last year and still theres no news about it. If I had to assume, D250 is not gonna come anytime sooner than the CS400.

Why wait for the 250 when you have the money to buy the 390!

Wish if the 250 launches soon enough.

Guys one question as I don't have a friend who has a D390. Is it really a problem driving the D390 in heavy traffic? Any D390 owners please shed some light.

How so ever bad the traffic is, you won't be having any issue while riding the bike except that it does heat a bit(manageable). I have been using it for more than a year now for my daily commute to work.

Thanks a lot for the answer. One more question how much is the mileage in the city? I mean on an average. Just wanted to know cause I don't really trust what the showroom guys says.

18-20 in city, it could go a little higher if you don't ride hard.

Depending on the traffic condition, I get some where in between 25-30. Open roads sane riding will fetch you 30.

                      Good to know that.
I am going for a test ride now and might book one of the Duke.

I went and took an extensive test drive on both Duke 200 and 390.
                          Booked the 390 black. 😊
