Re: Suggest a 150 cc Bike

I suggest you to go for Suzuki Gixxer 150, it's the segment leader now in 150cc category. (In terms of Performance and Looks)
I have ridden Pulsar 150, Unicorn, FZ, Apache 160 and Gixxer, I found the Gixxer to have the best performance among all of them in terms of power, handling and riding comfort for commuting within the city. No vibrations, good acceleration, decent mileage and great looks, what else can one ask for. I suggest you to test ride it once, I'm sure you'll forget about all other 150CC bikes and fall in love with it.
Parts availability and after sales wouldn't be an issue, since Gixxer is here for long term. I had done a lot of comparisons and research to conclude that Gixxer is the best in the market right now, earlier FZ16 was on the lead but now it doesn't look as VFM as the naked Gixxer. Also the fit and finish of a Pulsar or Apache is nowhere close to that of the Gixxer.
P.S I do not own a Gixxer, but I can vouch for it since I have test ridden it before. If I were in market looking for a 150cc commuter, Gixxer simply would've been a no-brainer for me.

As you are a tall person, take a test ride of Gixxer and see if it feels comfortable, if it does u can go for it as it is basically the best motorcycle in it's segment as explained in the above post.

No to Pulsar 150 and no to Apache too. The Pulsar 150's reliability is still a question mark when it comes to long term ownership. Apache will be cramped for you considering your height. I would suggest you to look at Honda Unicorn 160 which suits tall people well. But fuel efficiency is around 40-45kmpl. Or you could go for Hero Hunk/Xtreme. Under sane riding, you can get around 50kmpl. Long term ownership will not be a problem plus service is generally good. Out of these Apache is easily the best handler (without the TVS tyres). Pulsar is kinda heavy to steer particularly at low speeds. Gixxer and FZ are good too but they are not exactly commuters. Both have good handling. I would suggest you to stick to the regular 150cc bikes as pillion seat will not be comfortable on the sporty ones. AFAIK all companies are bound to come up with new products around the 2016 Auto Expo.

I am 6ft 1 and I ride Fazer version 2.0 No problems in 20 km rides
Gixxer and fz have same comfort. Xtreme wil give u a more comfort but doesnt handle like fz or gixxer
go for unicorn if looks dont matter...

You can go with the Suzuki GS150R too, it is better than the Unicorn 160 IMO!

Neither of them is good considering Apache has huge vibes and P180 is an age old technology. But if i were to choose between the two it would be Apache.
Go for Gixxer or any new generation 150cc bikes. They are really refined and offer a lot for the money you pay

                        +1

Gixxer would be a no-brainer for a 150cc at this point of time. Apache is really good, but the Gixxer is clearly a generation newer as far as engineering is considered.

Based on your requirements I don't see either Apache Rtr or Pulsar fulfilling all your needs. I can only think of hero honda Karizma r. Mileage might be little lesser than what you expect but it does tick the right boxes on all your other criteria. I know Honda has no longer tie up with Hero. I wouldn't advise you the Hero bikes as of now but I would suggest you to look into second hand market for the Karizma R from Hero Honda. And post 2-3 years of riding you can always upgrade to a higher cc and more powerful bike. If you are hell bent on buying a new bike and a 150 cc, then I wish you all the best is choosing the right one. Have a TD of the bikes mentioned here by the members and take a decision.
