  • Upgrading from P180 ug4

    1. Budget - 1-1.2
    2. Age- 25
    3. Height- 5'11"
    4. Weight-81
    5. Intended usage: weekend rides, office
    6. Fuel Efficiency requirement :35-40
    7. City & Highway percentage: 70:30
    8. Approximate Daily / Monthly running: depends where I get a job.
    9. City / Town /Village of residence : Pune may be be mumbai if get job there
    10. Brand / Bike type preference: naked sports love the ns200 sadly not available now.

I drove honda shine for 4during my engg sadly no rides other than clg or home due to its very short gearing n 4 gears. Thereafter I moved to mumbai and no bike for 2yrs.
Then got a job in mumbai then borrowed a cousins p180 which was lying idle from feb2015 which i used for daily office commute and weekend rides to pune. Not once since i travelled by bus to pune. Rains summer now know the NH4 like my everyday road :d. Did 10k in 6months.

Now I feel like I have sufficient practice and want to upgrade to a 200cc and my own bike. Currently there are not much options in 200cc bracket I liked the ns but its discontinued, AS200 i dont like the fairing, duke little out of budget and small fuel tank. I am waiting for the Apache 200 but don't know when the bile will launch and how it will be?

So now I am confused whether to go for AS200 or wait for some more time.
P180 has been serving me nicely and have also spent considerably on it around 17k on tyres, chain sprocket, clutch , led bulb and numerous oil changes to clean the glunk. It has done 41k on odo.

So the question is to wait or go for new bike I am seriously confused I have saved 1L for bike will take extra required once I get a job again.
    Any advice fellow riders.

      Re: Upgrading from P180 ug4

I'd suggest you a wait out a little since you already have a P180. I guess a 180NS is launching soon so should be better. Also I think if you save up a little & get the duke 200 it'll be a better package.

I agree with the above post.
If P180 is serving you well for now, better wait and save for a duke 200!

I didn't see any requirement of pillion comfort in your list of Requirements, so Duke 200 does seem like the best bet you've got!

You've already got INR 1L, you are nearly there for duke 200, save a little more so you have margin for the bike as well as good riding gear!

Ya no pillion, solo touring only also when I fit the viaterra claw no place for pillion [emoji14]
Is duke worth it, I have heard even in 6th gear it is not relaxed so would cruising be comfortable on it? Anyone has news about Apache 200 it was said it be would be launched around diwali but still no news. Only other viable option is the AS200 then.

Regarding riding gear I need only the knee guards or riding pants still deciding which to buy, rest all I have.
            Thanks

              Re: Upgrading from P180 ug4

Mate, your only bet is on NS/AS/RS200 from Bajaj.

Why? Because you are tall (5.11) & Weight 81Kg's. In this scenario only NS/AS/RS can provide you the relaxed comfortable riding posture.

Because there are very less bikes which are comfortable for tall guys. I myself am tall 6.1, & weigh 82KG. I know the pain

I say, ignore the looks, AS200 looks will slowly grow on you. Another option: NS200 with Fuel Injection will be released within 2 months. (but reliability of the FI unit = only time will tell)

I strongly suggest the semi faired bike AS200, because you can tour very good & comfortably. Full faired RS200 will be more expensive.

AS200: Roughly 1.1 lakhs on road price
              > Reliable & advanced engine/chassis
              > Powerful, decently refined
              > very comfortable for tall riders
              > Feature rich bike with projector lights
              > Excellent handling, braking
