  • Affordable 600 sports tourer or Naked

    Hi all,

Am looking at buying a 600 cc largely to be used for occasional city commute and touring purpose.

Am not new to sbk, have owned a few years back while I was settled overseas but haven't riden anything in the past few years after my return.

I love the naked variants, but semi fared and sports tourers fit the bill aswell.

What am looking for and needs suggestions are around the following parameters.

    1. Good looking
    2. Comfortable positioning specially for long rides, and easily cruise distance at 130 150 on highways.
    3. Good mid range
    4. Reliability (high on the list)
    5. Budget is 6-7 lakhs

Based on market availability the options I see are the -
    1 Benalli 600 i
    2. Kawasaki 650 and en 6 r

Or a used hyosung 650 n or the 650 gt (with some modifications adjusting riding position) which are available for under 3l

Can anyone comment on the above 3 specifically the hyosung. I love the idea of owning a very twin and how it delivers power at low torque. Not sure how this bike fits in.

And the benelli has a very reliable 05 r6 engine that's badly tuned. Am thinking a bit seriously around the benelli but I don't see a dyno jet power commander model unit available for this model. Any thoughts or alternatives?

    Thanks in advance

I would stick to the Benelli or Kawasaki. Not heard great things about the Hyosung to recommend a second hand machine!
Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

If it is twin you like, ER-6n. Kawasaki brand image and reliability.

If you have that sucker for Inline 4, Benelli it is. Since there are no other bikes that falls under your mentioned Money catergory.
I cant comment on the reliability as I too have been using it just for the last 4 months or so, I am having no issues with the bike as such (so far, touch-wood).
It does have good Mid-Top range punch, should be able to cruise at 120 on the highways easily. (Dont want to enter into the wind-blast argument, you will have to suffer that if you into naked street fighters).

Only -ve that I can point out is the service interval of 4months or 4k kms. So you will end up spending overall 18-20k on the service per year (just for the service alone)

I am not sure how much does a Bonnie cost. May be you want to check that as well.

Being the owner of Benelli 600i, I can say that you can go for 600i. I have completed 2000 kms and I am happy with the bike. I personally like Inline 4 than a parallel twins. But I4 engines have less low and moderate mid range. But you can add the aftermarket ECU to increase low and mid range.

Archer, service interval of just 4k?

Heard about aftermarket ecu but haven't seen any being listed. Dyno power commander dosn't have any listed for this model.

Hi Teezam, have you decided anything yet?
