  • Harley Davidson Forty Eight 2016 vs 1200 custom

    Hey guys,

I had booked a 48 in Jan and was expecting it to be delivered by April. However in the meantime, this 1200 custom was launched. Need help. Has anyone ridden both of the bikes? I love the forty eight but haven't seen the 1200 custom yet. I was planning to switch the tank in 48 to a bigger 3.3 gal and also adding a pillion seat so thats not the difference anymore. But its about the feel, about the look.

Help out guys.. whats your take... 48 or 1200 custom/??

    Query Approved

Haven't ridden either, but from the looks of it, the 48 is a 'fun' bike, not necessarily practical. If you switch the tank on it, they won't be much of the 48 left!
Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

Give your details here if you want to help your fellow xBhpian stranded in your city

Agreed. But I am switching to a bigger PEANUT TANK. 14 ltrs. Looks the same. Just a bigger tank capacity.

Xl1200c is Superlow with added chrome bits , different wheel size ( giving it much needed ground clearance) .
Both Superlow and xl1200c have suspension towards comfort end as compared to 48.
If you are looking for long touring xl1200 will suit lot more. It handles better , more comfortable . more chrome to eat up your Sundays!

Thanks a lot. But I think the 48 and the 1200 has the same suspension along with the same Engine... What do u think?

Practically they are same motorcycle ,all sportsters are same, on 48 suspension seems harsher as compared to Superlow /1200c. Largely due to stance and handlebars .
For the thought of it , why not go for a Superlow if you are interested in xl1200c. Makes more sense and saves you quite a bit of money actually.

Super low discontinued my friend.... Its not about the money saving bro. I have budget up to 48... 1200 is 50 K cheaper. Just wanted a good premium bike.

I was all settled for the 48 when compared to the Iron 883. Untill 1200 custom came out. SOme people suggest me to go for the Forty Eight .... some for custom 1200....

So in a fix... I have ridden the 48 ...and loved it...yet to see and ride the 1200 custom...thought of taking the forums verdict first.

              Regards

My verdict is same , if you are getting it for long touring - atleast 2-4 tours every year. Go for 1200c , if city ride and bar hopping with HOG Sunday breakfast rides you can go for 48 as well.
