  • KTM RC 200 or 390 or any other supersports?

    Hi everybody!

My Z800 will complete two years this May. And I am happy with my Japanese inline four. Now I am on a lookout for a proper supersports bike.(not selling my Z). As I can afford to throw it around corners. It should definitely hurt my wrists and back. Which is a sign of a perfect sportsbike. :P
I believe there is no other supersports in this range which can equal the performance and seriousness of KTM RCs. Others are just not hardcore enough.
I am confused between RC 200 and 390. I am assuming both 2016 versions will have abs standard. I would like to know which is better suited for cornering and track riding. If there are any major issues to look out for. I will be taking it to tracks too.

    Thanks for your help!

Did the sun just rise in the west? I never would have imagined seeing your post in this section

I honestly see no reason to buy the 200 except budget restriction.
Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

Give your details here if you want to help your fellow xBhpian stranded in your city

I, respectfully, beg to differ. The 200 gives a better range than then 390. Range matters even on track :-P depending on how much time you spend on it.

Also I find, that it is more exciting to push a smaller bike to the limits rather than trying to find the limit of a bigger bike. It will hone the rider because they are not relying on sheer power to get out of situations ... and that considering there are only two tracks in India that can warrant a rider pushing a 600 or liter class to the limit. If he already owns a Z800, I'd assume he knows what power is and how much of it he can control.

Just my 2 paisa ... hoping I didn't sound like an idiot :-P

Rc 200 does not have abs in 2016 version but it got better grip Mrf tyres,300mm disc and improved cushion seats in 2016.I have just bought rc390 2016 edition .

Both the KTM's are fun to ride and throw around but if power is your concern then go for 390 it comes with ABS and some other goodies, 200 doesn't have ABS as of yet and I don't think they even have a plan to make one for it's 200 range as of now.

Good points.I have crossed 200kmph only twice on my Z. The max I can achieve on rides is 170-180kmph.

            Power is not a concern.
One of my friend slipped on his ZX10R. The repair cost was in lakhs. So definitely cannot afford to drop a litre bike while cornering. On the KTMs,I believe I can be less tense and enjoy proper cornering.

Hardcore track junkies actually prefer no aids. For cornering and track riding ... What is needed is TC rather than ABS.

So lack of ABS in the RC200 is not a negative. The feedback on an RC200 is more sensitive than the feedback of an RC390 IMO.

But I've only ridden and never owned them. So consider my opinion with a pinch of salr, pepper salt etc ...

But for either choice made ... there are KTM power parts that can make them go faster :-)

Mess with the sprockets, the Air/Fuel systems, weight reduction .... and the RC becomes a potent tool on the track.

I would suggest you get a TD of both and a longer one if possible. If all you get is a straight stretch then yes the 390 will eat the 200 ... diversify and you'll understand better.

Or take a bike from a friend who own them and have them for a day ... if possible.
