  • BOOKED Yet confused - Royal Enfield: CL350 (Black) OR TB350 (Asphalt)

    Dear XBHPians,

Finally I have booked my Classic 350 (Black) but I am stunningly confused between CL350 or TB350.

    My height: 181cm
    Weight: 92kg
    Usage: 25/km a day

I have TDed both and loved both but TB was a bit more comfortable than CL350. My usage will be mainly in the city as I am not allowed to drive a bike on highways post my accident.

We have 5 CL350s in our family and everyone pushes me to go for it. I too love the real retro look of the CL350. Heart says CL350 and mind says TB350.

Can anyone similar to my height, weight shed some lights?

    Regards,
    Masud

If you have 5 CLs in your family, who are we to give you advice
Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

Give your details here if you want to help your fellow xBhpian stranded in your city

Hey buddy like the monk said, you have 5CLs! who are we to advise you!

But you did ask someone of your weight and height to shed light, so here goes, i am 182cms and weigh 95.7Kilos (not too proud of it, but thats a different story). I test rode CL and TBTS at many occasions in showrooms and colleagues' rides. I too was confused as i liked the CLs for their look and TBTS for,...well just for itself and the added features like disc brakes, fuel gauge.

But at the end i booked a TBTS 350 stone, only to change the booking to Flicker within a week.

Why i went for TBTS, simply because CL didn't look large enough with me riding it or handling it while off the saddle. TBTS with slightly taller stance and slightly bigger tank fits the bill.
Why i moved away from matte paint was: i read in many places that the matte paint is harder to maintain, and shows minor scratches immediately. also of cases where the RE service centre itself applied regular Polish to a guy's matte paint and then just apologized. by regular usage and cleaning, the paint tends to become shiny, also at places where the riders knees touch the tank.

I had thought of using matte paint protection and all. But there aren't much of products available in market and then a guy near my house got a friend who came and parked his matte black TBTS near our house and it was about a year old and the paint indeed had started to gloss up. similar observations i had in certain other bikes too (in a DS500 and another TBTS350 in my office parking lot)

So i thought i'd better take a regular glossy black Flicker paint and i am happy with the decision, now i can put good carnauba wax based polishes over it to retain the finish and protect it from the elements and don't have to worry about using specialized products or the paint going from sheen to glossy.

Hope this helps! do let us know you decision.

They are all biased cousins with fat wallets

They just wont hear ANYTHING negative against RE so no point expecting an honest opinion from them.

This is the same reason I had booked Asphalt TB350 first but then something within told me to change it to CL350. I still have 3-4 days to inform the dealer about my decision and I am still confused as hell.
