  • Bike for city

Hi everyone. I am looking for a bike to ride in the city. I'll be riding almost everyday. I have selected Gixxer SF, Yamaha R15S and Hornet. I am a first time rider. Need your help budds!

    Topic Approved.

Out of the three, I would suggest Gixxer SF, it looks great and is a good option for commuting.
A second equally good choice could be Hornet which is without a fairing (mask) and has 10 more cc's approx.

Test ride both and you can't go wrong with either.

R15S is a good bike, but it may get tiring to ride in the city traffic, because it has an aggressive riding position, the one used in racing... not so comfortable for city & long highways' use. You can get used to it in 4-5 days though and your body will adjust too, unless there's some chronic injury in back or wrists or arms.
Plus, its low rpm torque is not too special, thus you might end up shifting gears a bit more in the city, to remain in powerband.

If you're ok with these 2 facts, and love the R15, then go for it.

R15 trumps the rest in terms of Power, Torque, transmission, cooling, dual disc breaks. BUT THE ONLY Downside would be riding stance and cost.

In case we leave R15 out, CB HORNET 160R Trumps (well marginally so) in terms of power and torque as well as advertised FE. It also costs a couple of thousand INR lesser which you can save or spend in buying a good safety gear and/or accessories!.

Taking a long test ride...as many times as needed would clear any and all doubts.

Which Bike Did YOU LIKE out of the three?

If you don't have back problems and can afford to spend 1.3 lakhs, R15 anyday.
Out of the three you shortlisted R15 is most powerful, only one with dual discs, liquid cooling, closed loop fuel injection system and pure bred racing chassis.
You have to adjust your riding style and your wrists will pain for first few thousand kms, but once you are used to it, it is the most fun to ride.
Second option will be the hornet and last would be gixxer.

Take test rides and then decide.

Thanks buds!!! I was opting for R15S but the riding stance is really a deal breaker for me. I am opting for SF. Will be going for a test ride very soon for all the bikes to be sure.

Any idea when the SF fi is gonna launch??

The R15S has a rear seat that exists and has the highest power of the lot

I would also advice you to take a look (Test drive) the new RTR 200 too.Priced the same at R15S but has more power.

For everyday use, Hornet will be better than the other two. But if you want that extra factor for highways, R15S should be the choice. The aerodynamics is a boon against crosswinds.
