  • Planning to buy my first bike. Help me!

I am 5'3. 23 yrs and graduated. I already own a hero maestro from 2012. Now I am looking to buy a bike for long distance commute like 40kms to and fro and a once in a month long drive for 200+ kms. It's my first bike and I am still a beginner in biking. I will also be keeping my scooter. I haven't decided the body. I am OK with cruiser, commuter and sports.
I have a thing for R15 v2. But I think for long commutes and pillion comfort it won't be appropriate (Though people do tour on R15 but still for pillion it's not comfortable). Apart from these I have listed
    Honda CB Hornet
    Suzuki gixxer
    FZs v2
TVS Apache RTR (because of ABS)
Avenger street 220 and cruiser 220.

    Query Approved

The Hornet has the most comfortable seat of the lot i believe. The Avengers will probably be the easiest to handle for a 5'3" rider.
Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

For your height requirement, I would suggest the Avenger only. I'm 5'10" and at times the FZ is a pain when I have to pull the bike back while sitting on it.

The Avenger is might comfortable for rider and the pillion as well.

Though untested waters, there are the other options of EIDAR Motors and UM coming out with a new crop of cruisers

Avenger will be the easiest to handle among the lot for your physique.
Btw why don't you have a look at R-15S? Has a better seat than its predecessor.

A bike on the road is worth two in the shed.

Avenger would be a very comfortable bike for you.The Apache RTR 200 and the R15-S are also a good choice.

Don't worry too much about height, I'm 5'5", with a lower leg length, and have an RC 390 (820mm seat height). Its just a matter of getting used to it, and if you can touch more than half your foot, or just your heels, you'll be able to manage. For 5'3", just don't exceed 800cm and youll be fine
The only thing is you'll have to wheel the bike out, you won't be able to sit on it and pull it back

R15S which will have a plain seat and would be very comfortable for pillion. Please check.

Pillion Comfort for 200+ kms is only offered in Avenger, that too is not great as such unless you mod the seat and make the pillion seat wider

Rest all bikes will not be comfortable for a pillion for 200+ kms

Avenger Cruise model will be better on highways then the Street model due to the raised handle bar and the visor

Avenger should the obvious choice. It is very comfortable fro long journeys and you can easily take a pillion with you.
Take test rides with your pillion and then decide.
I would like to thank my legs for supporting me, my arms for being always by my side and my fingers; I could always count on them.

An avenger is definately good for long touring as the seats and sitting position is very comfortable.
However it requires a widered turning angle due to its length.
So I wouldn't say maneuvering a tight turn of a ghat wouldn't exactly be it's thing.

But this beast is amazing. I just fell in love just concerned with the reaching of legs and weight I'll manage as I will get used to it if I buy. I am more inclined towards duke 200 rather than rc200

                              Buy Gixxer or avenger only.
Don't go for Duke or other heavy machine, they are amazing machines but not for you and you will have to accept it man.
for height 5.3 strict to avenger, for 5.4 Gixxer, RTR 180
