Yamaha Ray Z and Yamaha ZR (New) - User Reviews, Feedback and Suggestion.

Hi Friends,

Warm Greetings !!! Previously I posted a thread regarding what scooter type to select for my personal use. In that list I did not include Yamaha scooters, as I thought the budget and maintenance will be high. But my assumption was wrong. The Price of Yamaha Ray Z was close or equal to Honda Activa 3G or Dio (correct me if I am wrong).


So Now I am interested to know more about Yamaha Ray Z and Yamaha Ray ZR which comes with Blue core technology and with disc break as optional.

Disc or Drum ?:

I am quite confused to select disc break or drum break in scooter segment. Which one is better ? What will be the maintenance cost difference if we own a drum vs disk break scooter.

Yamaha Ray Z or Yamaha Ray ZR?:

I am confused between Yamaha Ray Z and Yamaha Ray ZR(disc) or Yamaha Ray ZR (drum). Which is better choice?

- What is the under seat storage capacity in Yamaha Ray Z?
-What is the mileage in Yamaha Ray Z and ZR?
-What is the average maintenance cost for Yamaha Ray Z and ZR?

Any other choice?

Also Friends, Please suggest if there are any other good option in scooter segment to buy. My previous option was TVS Jupiter. Now my choice is Yamaha Ray Z or ZR.(because of some suggestion from my friends)

I am waiting for a valuable suggestion and feedback from All Yamaha Ray Z and Yamaha Ray ZR users. Also waiting for good suggestion from other bikers and users.

Both rays are first gen. So no blue core. The fascino is blue core.

Thanks for the update. What is the maintenance cost for your Yamaha you are spending in average? Have you changed any spare parts for your ray ? If so can you tell me the cost.? I am asking just to estimate the maintenance in Yamaha. Thanks in advance.

Both rays have completed 20k kms. Till now the only things changed are oil, air filter and brake shoes(once).

Hi Ravi,

Finally I decided to but YAMAHA RAY ZR Drum break. Since all the models are near to close price I feel Yamaha will me more valuable and stylish.

But now I am confused between which colour to choose . There are two options available 1.Rooster Red 2. Maverick Blue.

Guys Please help me to decide which one to select? . Which looks more attractive? Need all your valuable Suggestions.

Hi Jayanth, colour and design is something which varies from person to person. What looks good to others might not look good to you and vice versa. Still if you ask me, the Blue one looks better to me.

Thanks Krishna. Yes, what you are saying is right. I just wanted to have some suggestions from others so that I can just calculate what type of colour is preferred in majority. Anyways final decision will be mine. And your opinion will be useful for me to make my decision. Thanks again.

My suggestion would be to go to the Showroom and physically inspect both colors. The colors shown on website arent really the ones which look on bike. When i bought my TVS Jupiter, i decided for Titanium Grey color which looked awesome on website but the real model looked very dull and didnt even had a feel of a new bike. Hence decided and bought red color.

Choice of colors is totally ones personal viewpoint.

I would really like to know more about bike tunings and modifications. Is there any thread dedicated to it or any site on which I can get more info about. I tried to find over here but was not successful.

Thanks for suggestion. What you said is 100% right. I will try to view the bike in Yamaha showroom. One major disappointment is YAMAHA RAY ZR is not available in showroom for display. They are just pre-booking it or they are ready to show the bike once we book(after giving money). Anyways I have seen YAMAHA RAY ZR Maverick blue colour on road side but still I did not see Rooster Red colour. But I have watched in youtube.
