  • Bike Suggestions for a tall rider

    1. Budget - Rs. 1.25L may exceed depending on the options
    2. Age - 23
    3. Height - 6.2"
    4. Weight - 85kg
    5. Intended usage - office commute, weekend rides
    6. Fuel Efficiency requirement - anything above 30
    7. City & Highway percentage usage - city trqffic 70%
    8. Daily running - 20KMS per side
    9. City - New Delhi
    10. Preference - 200cc and above.
    11. Options - Apache rtr 200 4v, pulsar ns, pulsar rs, fz-s, r15(though these are 150cc)
My main concern is the stop/go delhi traffic during peak hours. The bike should be agile and maneuverable.
Cannot figure out the most comfortable bike considering my height and weight.
I've ridden the current apache 180, fz but not ns, rs or r15.

    Any other options welcome.
    Thanks.

Despite my ordeal with it, I'd still recommend a AS200 or a 220. Made for taller riders. Especially the AS. The NS has been discontinued.

Cross out the Yammys (Fz and R15), you will feel terribly cramped in them.
Not sure about the new Apache 200 but the old ones also looked puny under tall riders. Try the new one and see for yourself if it is comfortable for you.
Else AS200 will suit you the best. It is tall and have enough power to keep you happy.
Take test rides and choose the one that suits you the best.
I would like to thank my legs for supporting me, my arms for being always by my side and my fingers; I could always count on them.

Re: Bike Suggestions for a tall rider

So I took a short test ride of the RS200 and AS200.
Apache 200 was not available for test ride in Delhi(Karol Bagh)
My posture on the RS200 was almost upright with a slight lean but the main issue was the footpeg positioning, I had to bend my knees much more on the RS than the AS.
This might be happening because used to riding an avenger 220 for the past 1.5 years and the sporty positioning seemed odd during the test ride.
I believe I will get used to it.
Since iI am coming from a cruiser riding style I am used to applying the front brakes much harder, it might be a bad habit but what can we do. Considering this I'm thinking of buying a bike equipped with ABS, hence AS200 is out of the list.

But just a moments back, a great friend of mine(a true RE worshiper with 5 models in his stable) suggested me to look at the price depreciation value of the investment I'm making in the form of a vehicle. The told me to consider the thunderbird 350 on top of the RS200.

I swear he got me thinking, hard.

So I'm back here to clear out my mind so that i can make a wise decision.
P.S. I need the vehicle urgently, so I'm leaning towards RS200, RS is still my original decision.

But there is a "BUT Factor" that has arisen due to the TB350

I'm here to say the Apache 200 is a much bigger bike and the seats height and stance is very suitable for taller riders. 3 friends with 6ft+ height find the bike much bigger. The Older one's are too small as they say.

Check out the TB 350. I think it suits your requirements well!

                Thank you all for replying.
Due to some circumstances i have to delay my purchase till September.
But on the brighter side i can increase my budget to 2L.
I've added Duke 390 to my watchlist.(inspired by Mumbiker Nikhil )
Are there any suggestions for any upcoming bike till late September as I'm not deep into the biking scene.
                Revised watchlist:
                Rs200
                Duke390
                Rtr 200 4v
                *Any upcoming 200+ cc bike.

                Thanks.

                        What was your ordeal??
I am also 6"1'. Are the RTR200 4V and Gixxer SF uncomfortable for tall lads in dense traffic?
Is the new 200NS significantly better?
Also, how much difference of mileage can I expect between these 200cc bikes and the 150cc gixxer?

How about Gixxer SF? Is it as good as the RTR 200 for tall people?

Brother, we can speculate all we want on line and its gonna get you no where. Please visit a showroom and take a test ride for the SF.
It is not a sports bike, no clip-ons, no aggressive posture. so it might suit your needs, but you might feel a lack of power considering your requirements.
Again, the best way to get first hand answers would be to take test rides.
We are always here to help you with the queries, but we cannot judge whether you will be comfortable siting on a bike or not. That, you will have to find out for yourself.
For all the other queries, we are always here to help.
Take test rides and let us know.

A 200 cc bike will give you mileage in 30-40 range, depending on the traffic conditions and your riding style. A 150 CC will give you 40-50.
I would like to thank my legs for supporting me, my arms for being always by my side and my fingers; I could always count on them.

Very well said brother. So that means I should expect atleast a difference of atleast 7-8 Kmpl in city conditions, given identical conditions on both the bikes..
Also, I've written a detailed post on my priorities and requirements, I would request you to please reply on that thread whenever you get time. No hurries. Thanks in advance.
