  • Need help in choosing my first bike

    Hi fellow bikers.

I'm planning to buy a motorbike and I'm looking for wise suggestion from experienced bikers in this community.

My requirements in the order of preferrence:
    • Excellent resale value
    • Really good mileage
    • Power range : 110cc-125cc
    • Cost : below 80,000INR onroad
    • Intended usage : for daily commute(60+ km daily) mostly in city(Bangalore)
    • Decent after market service
    • I'm about 5'4" tall.

I've heard Honda bikes offer great resale value hence Honda CB ShineSP, Livo are already under consideration. However these two are new bikes in market. Before taking the final call I'd like to hear from experience bikers in this forum on your opinion.

What do you think about CB Shine SP and Livo? What are the other bikes that you suggest?

    Thanks in advance.

    Query approved!

CB Shine is quite a stable and reliable platform. it has been serving as the bread and butter model for Honda (along with Activa) for years now.
You cannot go wrong with it. CB Shine SP is the same bike with very few mechanical changes. Most changes are cosmetic.

Livo is, relatively a very new bike but I have seen quite a few around in Bangalore. So I guess there should be decent support for it.
The only grudge is Honda service support. Not the best in business.

I recently read that Hero Glamour outsold the Shine. You may give it a shot. I know that Shine has a 5 speed gearbox, not sure about Glamour though!

What do you feel about Yamaha? Do you see Yamaha service stations near your place of stay? If yes, look at Saluto/SZ.
    Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.
Because everyone who passes, isn't a martyr!

        +1 to Divya Sir's post.
You cannot go wrong with Shine. The new one Sp variant comes with a 5 speed gearbox which was badly needed for the 125 cc motor.
Livo is relatively new, but being a Honda. It will be good.

If you want a bit different, try Glamour. very good and reliable.
One of my cousins own a 5 year old shine and my best friend owns a 7 year old Glamour. Both are very very good. No problems at all.

Take test rides and the choose the one that suits you the best.

I would like to thank my legs for supporting me, my arms for being always by my side and my fingers; I could always count on them.

You can go for Honda CB Shine. If you are considering 125cc then why 110cc Livo? If you want more mileage than you should go with Livo Or you can also consider the all new Tvs Victor(More torque and power). Also as previously Advised just look at the Hero Glamour. It is a very good and reliable Bike. One of my cousin have it and it is a very good bike you also have the option to go for the FI version of Glamour.
