UM Renegade or Hyosung Aquila ?

    UM Renegade or Hyosung Aquila ?

    Hello all

    I'm posting this query on behalf of a doctor friend who wishes to buy his first bike.
    Age: 26 - 28 yr
    Ht: 5.5 - 5.6 ft
    Wt: 70 - 75 kg
    Budget: 3 - 3.5 lacs
    Skill: Beginner
    Motive: City riding/ Office commuting/ Gf pampering

    He is not interested in Bajaj or Royal Enfield or Harley Davidson.
    Took a short testride of the Aquila250 and liked it.
    The UM Renegade bookings are open and deliveries will take another 4 months so mainly he is inclined towards hyosung i think.
    He says that he 'might' shift to Lukhnow in about a year or not.
    His words," Yaar, 3-3.5 lac ek bike ke liye is it worth it ?"

    I tried to steer him away from hyosung and UM both but i couldn't make a strong case for any other bike.
    Concepts like single cylinder/ parallel twin/ ckd etc are lost on him.

      As they say, "a Known devil is better than unknown friend", basing on that, I would say, get the Hyusung.

        Hi

        I thought may be if he learns more about the negatives or positives of Hyosung then he will make a more informed purchase.
        I myself don't know about ownership of aquila250.
        I have heard that the Gt250r parts are highly priced say - 50k for the fuel tank
        He will be financing the bike so i don't think Olx would be of much help.
        He is hoping for a longterm ownership.

          UM Renegade or Hyosung Aquila ?

          If I were you in place of your friend I would have stayed away from hyosung (no offence to existing owners ) and I would wait for UM renegade but reviews of UM renegade by autocarindia also doesn't inspire confidence. Hyosung parts are costly and service centre are also limited. In my city hyosung shut down both showroom and service centre and now existing owners are facing hard time to service their bikes and most of them are selling it even they are not getting buyers.

          I would suggest your friend to reconsider the choices as you are saying he will be taking bank loan so that bike should be trustworthy and justify his investment.

            And also Aquila 300 was unveiled in EICMA 2015. I don't know if it will replace the current 250 here

              At EICMA they said they will eventually replace it. But with no timeline shared, there is no point waiting for that. Especially considering the relatively less number of units which are sold.

                I don't expect anymore replies here + He hasn't made contact with me yet.
                Looks there is still time.

                I will ask him to invest money at his own risk.
                I wasn't able to track any hyosung owner in my extended circles.
