  • Need suggestions on new bike

    Hello All,

I have sold off my Cbz extreme which I had been using for one year, mainly due to backache problem due to commuting to office which is 50km ride up and down. Although the bike was great, it was more on the heavier side.

Now I'm looking for buying a light bike and need your valuable suggestions on shortlisting it. Not sure which one to select. I'm currently looking at Activa or Fascino but not sure if their suspension would be better for 50 km ride. My main requirement is the bike should be lighter and good looking (please don't suggest passion, glamour etc.). Budget is no bar, comfort is important.

    Thanks in advance
    Minhaj

Does your ride have decent roads? Would your normal speeds be 40+ kmph?

If your answer is a yes, go for a Activa. Otherwise

      1) The suspension of Activa can hurt quite a bit on bad roads, thanks to the stiff suspension.
      2) Activa is so dull until it crosses the 35 kmph mark. It sucks a lot of petrol for nothing, because of revving high before coming into good gears.

I've no suggestions or ideas about others.

Here's one thing I always tell to people who tell they have backache because of riding.

Your back needs to be checked first.
There's no point of changing bikes or anything until you have proper back. Today it may be visible in simple bike like CBZ tomorrow it will become worse and will start coming again in new bike.

Go to doctor get it checked if anything can be fixed fix it, if not get a car because no 2 wheeler in the world will suit if you have back issues.

        Regards,
        Mohan

Like vattsy said, activa has a stiff suspension set up IMO. I have a access for last 2.5 years. Initially had the same back pain issue but i started work out with simple exercises and now its gone. So changing bikes wont give you results. Try strengthen your back for better results and keep it a routine. I think access has softer suspension set up than activa and no idea about fascino.

Thank you all for your prompt response. After much research I zeroed down on Avenger street 150. Ride is comfortable compared to Cbz mainly due to its seating style.

Thanks for your suggestions Mohan, I consulted good doctors and even got the MRI done - they said there's no problem so must be something wrong with bike or my back not liking the bike.

Can you please let me know the exercises which you're doing? Youtu.be link or any link with that information would be of great help!

Yes, I later checked with my cousin who has Activa and has been using it since many years, he advised not to go for it if I'm looking for comfort. Also the roads on my office route are not that good so had to remove scooters from my hit list.
