Re: New Access 125 versus TVS Jupiter
Buddy kindly share your ownership experience here. I either want to buy jupiter base model, hero maestro edge VX (top end) model or all new suzuki access 125 drum brake variant. I'm on a budget, plus looking for comfort. Don't want a disc brake up front. Also rejected Activa 125 as Access is more up to date and even a side stand is a paid accessory for Activa 125.Originally posted by rvbhute View PostI have not followed the general trends ever. Just like with my Gladiator (may it be happy with its new owner), I had a list of features I desired. Looks being a personal opinion (although I think the new Access has character, looks-wise), the Access ticked all points on my checklist. I have test-driven both Access and Activa - noise, vibration, etc. felt about the same. I rarely saw another Gladiator on the roads in the seven years I rode it - maybe one or two in a month; I don't let the "kitna deti hai" crowd bother me. While I am not an avid biker, I am a careful one.
- How many of those Activas and Jupiters crowding the roads right now have a 125cc mill? A front disc brake?
- These forums and many others are filled with talks of arrogance and high-handedness of Honda dealers and service centres. I did not want to face that - so in the presence of an equally good scooter, I rejected the Activa 125.
- TVS Wego comes with a front disc. The Jupiter MillionR edition comes with a front disc brake. But TVS does not offer the disc brake as an option on other variants of Jupiter. Why? I rejected the Jupiter for this.
The accessibility of the fuel cap is also not going to be an issue for me - going by my usage, I will need to reach for it maybe once a week, if not less frequently. And like I mentioned earlier, there are two authorised service centres near my place, so that also works out well.
@SparKot, @Nairrk, thanks for your wishes! While the seat cover does not have any branding, it does get hot very quickly in the sun. I will change it in a week or so.
Access test ride was an instant hit for me. Havent ridden Hero maestro edge yet and I doubt it's reliability and performance as well. I have ridden jupiter for long and I found that the seat causes discomfort right from the beginning of the ride- it's the million R edition with duracool seat that i rode...maybe because of some soft sponge is used in it? I do not know how the base model with normal seat will be. So I want to keep jupiter only next to access. Another thing I noticed is the tyre - they are hard in TVS and do not inspire confidence like MRFs.
Only bummer is that access is 5000 rs more than base model of jupiter and 3600 rs more than top end Hero maestro edge, on road, in my city. Is the price difference justified as access has very less features compared to the other two?
This is one another ask from my side - did you get mobile charger on your access? did you try charging your mobile? Does the front pocket hold the mobile well when riding and charging at the same time?

Re: New Access 125 versus TVS Jupiter
@srinath2494, so far I have only 2 minor points with the Access.
1. The seat is too broad for the rear passenger. In fact, the seat is very unique in its size and you will have trouble shopping around for seat covers and such. If possible, try to take a look at the seat profile from a floor or two above - you will immediately see that Access seat is noticeably broader towards the rear than other scooters. This will be important if you frequently have pillion rider with you (not the case for me).
2. The headlight beam alignment seems to be too high, even after getting it adjusted to its lowest level. I have not ridden in twilight/night conditions much so I haven't thoroughly sorted this issue.
Otherwise, I have no complaints. The scooter is peppy, weaves through traffic easily and is lighter to handle than my Gladiator.
The front pocket is deep enough to completely swallow a Nexus 6 phone or 2 soft drink cans, etc. It is deep enough that I can drop odd stuff in it and not worry about them bouncing out. I did not get the charger fitted as I do not see myself charging a phone on the go.
My scooter has CEAT tyres since for some reasons, MRF-shod Access were not coming through even after waiting for 10 days. I have no complaints.
@srinath2494, since you are going for drum brakes, I would say the final toss-up is between Jupiter and the new Access. Jupiter has 12 inch wheels front and rear while Access has 12 inch on the front only. On the other hand, Access has the bigger engine. Everything else, I would say, is subjective and up to you. Hope this helps.2016 Suzuki Access 125 (Matte Grey)

Re: New Access 125 versus TVS Jupiter
Thanks. I believe I would want to spend more for the latest technology and ofc better technology - I mean the platforms on which Jupiter and Access are built. Heart says access. Still, ceat tyres are softer than the TVS tyres found on jupiter. I actually felt better on access in terms of comfort and having just one 12 inch wheel at the front - for riding dynamics. More so I couldn't find any great difference between a jupiter and an activa just with respect to wheel size.Originally posted by rvbhute View Post@srinath2494, so far I have only 2 minor points with the Access.

I will go with what's more comfortable. Do you have a disc brake model? How is it after the disc pads broke in and how was it initially? In my test rides, the disc pads were hard as wood and it was a relatively new scooter as well.
Please post some pictures of your ride.

Re: New Access 125 versus TVS Jupiter
I have disc brake version, and done only around 250km on the scooter. I don't get what you mean by "wooden". There is modulation in the brake response - I get the difference when I engage the front brake gently vs jamming it hard.
I will post some pics in the Access 125 ownership thread in the weekend.2016 Suzuki Access 125 (Matte Grey)

I would have purchased my scooter last year but didnt feel the need. However I'll be doing it in the coming month. Zeroed on hero duet in place of jupiter and access. Drum brake seems adequate for my usage though. You recommend drum brakes on the acooter after using it all this while? I know you'd be accustomed to disc brakw but do you think the scooter can do well without it?
Hero duet seems promising with lots of features as well.

Re: New Access 125 versus TVS Jupiter
@srinath2494, I have updated in the Access/Swish ownership thread. Like I mentioned there, I can't really comment on comparisons with other bikes and I believe all the current scooters (except Vespa and Aprilia SR150) have 80% in common. But my recommendation is, if you can afford it, go for the features giving better - better safety, handling, etc.Originally posted by srinath2494 View Posthi, how's your scooter holding up?

go for disc over drum
go for telescopic front shocks over whatever is on the current Activa 3g/4
go for bigger wheels (like Jupiter, Wego, etc.
go for external fuel cap
Beyond this, it is all personal. Hope this helps.Last edited by rvbhute; 05-27-2017, 12:44 PM.2016 Suzuki Access 125 (Matte Grey)

Re: New Access 125 versus TVS Jupiter
thank you, ive seen the update there. Some features are insignificat and may not be safe all the time. Thats why some global premium brands havent incorporated them right away.Originally posted by rvbhute View Post@srinath2494, I have updated in the Access/Swish ownership thread. Re: New Access 125 versus TVS Jupiter
I had test driven Honda Access 125 and Honda Aviator. I felt that Access engine is way smoother than Honda. It pulls faster than Aviator. On the flip side, the Access suspension is much harder suspension than Aviator. Aviator soaks over bumps and modulations on the road. But in Access they are transferred to the rider. Do others felt the same?
I am going to try TVS Jupiter this week.

How was the suspension between Access and Jupiter? I felt that Access is stiffer than Honda Aviator.Originally posted by srinath2494 View PostTo tvs jupiter - I'm going to ride you one more time and it's the only chance to get me! I'm already sold to this comfortable scoot!

Re: New Access 125 versus TVS Jupiter
Go for Suzuki access 125 its awesome and gives the better storage space and most importantly the charging slot at front!! Disc brakes are good buy not necessary though! Currently I have done 1700+ Kms on my access 125
Regarding suspension its damn good!Last edited by PRABHU29; 05-28-2017, 12:07 PM.PRABHU29

Re: New Access 125 versus TVS Jupiter
I have upgraded from the jupiter to the access after about 1700km and couldn't be happier.
On the jupiter after a 60 km ride my thighs would start to hurt because of the soft seat. No such problems with the access. This is a major major downer for me about the jupiter
The ride quality of the access is significantly better than the jupiter, especially with pillion riding. The front is definitely a tad more bouncier than the jupiter but this is not a big deal, as the bumps get transferred only to your arms and not your body.
Low beam of the jupiter is better than the access, though the high beam is more effective on the access in lighting up the pedestrian zombies.
The seat is also the longest in the scooter class, which cannot be wrong.
Yes, the filler cap is not external but it definitely is not a deal breaker.
Ans last and the most important, the engine of the access is much more willing to move than the jupiter which screams post 50kph compared to the whisper of the access.

no, I'm a victim of the rear suspension in honda scooters. The shocks ruined my hip for a fortnight at least.Originally posted by avnsiva View PostI had test driven Honda Access 125 and Honda Aviator. I felt that Access engine is way smoother than Honda. no, ride the new access. Set the tyre pressure as suggested on manual for solo or with a pillion rider. Its smooth over undulations and not bouncy.Originally posted by avnsiva View PostHow was the suspension between Access and Jupiter? I felt that Access is stiffer than Honda Aviator.
charging slot is not the most important thing that one choses access for. In my opinion we should see it as a dc socket only and not as a charger. Its not a design that can be accepted when you term it as a mobile charging point. Why the hell would i put my mobile in a pocket from which there are chances that it will bounce off and fall? Why the hell would i leave a dc socket and wire exposed to weather? The socket becomes unusable during rainy days and dusty environments. I wouldnt leave my phone in the pocket on a hot sunny day, leave alone charging it. The pocket is good to carry grocery like bottles and some other food. Thats all.Originally posted by PRABHU29 View PostGo for Suzuki access 125 its awesome and gives the better storage space and most importantly the charging slot at front!! The best set up can be found under the seat in jupiter, duet & maestro edge and latest activas.
Otherwise the socket in access is just good for lighting cigarettes.Last edited by srinath2494; 05-29-2017, 11:05 AM.

Re: New Access 125 versus TVS Jupiter
It comes to personal preference, say you woke up with a 10% 🔋 and then you wanna go to work which is 30 min travel at the same time u don't want to miss calls too..
Yes it is a DC socket you can use that for multi purpose not only for charging.. and get the premium socket with waterproof. (You don't need to open seat for everything)
Whatever the vehicle is you wanna take care of it.PRABHU29

Re: New Access 125 versus TVS Jupiter
why the hell would I pay a premium to expose it to weather? You wake up with 10 percent and are in a hurry to go to office. You wanna put your phone in a front pocket and take the bumpy roads zipping through the traffic at high speeds? Duh. I know you stand by what you said but dont just reply for the sake of replying. An underseat storage with a charger or a dc socket to charge your phone worth a few thousands of rupees always makes more sense. When you're in hurry to your office you need peace of mind. Not stopping in between the traffic to get back your phone that jumped off, with a tense mind. Later you dont have to go to office and rant about your broken phone, or still be late because youre taking thr phone to mobile service shop, because priorities, since you're very keen.Originally posted by PRABHU29 View PostIt comes to personal preference, say you woke up with a 10% 🔋 and then you wanna go to work which is 30 min travel at the same time u don't want to miss calls too..
