Do you know riding a 'geared' 2 wheeler? Don't get me wrong, I asked this since you mentioned lack of confidence. If you know riding a 'geared' 2 wheeler but merely are low on confidence due to inexperience, then it is fine.
But if you don't know riding a 'geared' 2 wheeler, I wouldn't advice on any on the above mentioned bikes.
    Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

+1 to Divya sir's post. You don't know how bad it feels when you drop your brand new bike and it is scratched all over on the very first week of ownership.
Better to learn properly on a friend's or relatives old bike (Splendors. platina, discover etc). When you have enough confidence in yourself, then get a brand new bike.

That being said, if you know how to ride a bike a Gixxer should be the first choice, simple carb engine, good build quality, smooth and reliable and cheaper than Fz. It is ligh and nimble on the roads and easy to ride in traffic; perfect for a beginner.

Fz is Fuel injected and a bit more expensive, as with all the Japs super smooth and niggle free.

Hornet is another option, a good commuter, CBS makes breaking more effective.

Take test rides for all the 3 bikes and then choose the one that you feel most comfortable.

I would like to thank my legs for supporting me, my arms for being always by my side and my fingers; I could always count on them.
