  • Looking for the best cheap bike

My brother doesn't have a very descent salary but still wants to go for a new bike for his daily commute. His budget is within over 30K and less than 45K. I suggested him CT 100B or HF Deluxe.Which one do you think will be better in terms of mileage, durability for daily commute of more than 1 hour, safety in terms of built strength and spare parts/service availability and ease.

Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

Give your details here if you want to help your fellow xBhpian stranded in your city

The Bajaj CT100B and the TVS Sport are good options within 45 grand. The Bajaj has a lower price and offers greater value, while the TVS has better build quality and a durable & reliable engine.

On economy, the CT100B should return around 80kmpl and the Sport around 75kmpl, in normal city conditions. If you want the best mileage, you should also consider the new Bajaj Platina Comfortec, which will return around 90kmpl. But you may have to extend your budget a bit. Spares wouldn't be an issue with any of the mentioned bikes.

A CT100B would be a good option, if you can stretch the budget a bit Platina is also a good commuter.
TVS sport and Hero Splendor might also come in the budget and are very good and reliable machines.

Take test rides for all and choose the one that suits you the best.
I would like to thank my legs for supporting me, my arms for being always by my side and my fingers; I could always count on them.

I have owned 2016 ct100b. It gives 80kmpl@40kmph speed on the highway.

TVS star city is a good buy , but I am not sure what is the on road price, whether it comes under 45k or not. If budget is the constraint, then CT100b is the best buy. Should return a good mileage. Again, about the comfort in riding, I cannot comment as I have not ridden it before.

Both these bikes are good and you will not have any issues in procuring the spares at any point of time.

Re: Looking for the best cheap bike

Bikes like splendor cost more than 45k on road. Anyways, I heard somewhere that CT 100B doesn't go over 60kmph at its maximum speed on the highest 4th gear. And it looses its balance turning shaky even at that speed. I also read online that the ct100b parts are made up of poor material and built which may break easily. But I mentioned ct 100b because its cheap and gives good mileage so you can use it carelessly but still safety on road is a big concern here, I don't want the chassis to shatter while I'm speeding at even 60kmph on a high speed highway or want the handle bar to come off while I'm sliding on a slant road and the usual fear; the fork splitting on a humped speed breaker, that's total disaster. I mentioned one more bike hero HF deluxe what do you think about that? it was also the best seller this may 2016 according to one website. I have heard about tvs sport but I hardly see it with anyone on the road that means its not trusted by the public.

Myself also having the same confusion whether to go to ct100B or not .
                  And also same buget problems.
I think experts should tell some answers.

I was also exactly in the same dilemma 3 months ago. I checked out CT100B, CT100, Platina ES 100 Comfortec, Star Sport, Star City.
Cheapest is of course CT100B at 37K on road in Chennai, but it has no electric start, no fuel meter, has a round naked headlight, basically a bare bone bike with just the essentials. CT100 was 45K+, all others were going up to 55K, Star City 58K. Platina Comfortec came second best at 52K on road and finally went for it. It's been three months and ~3000 km and one service, it is giving me 75-76 kmpl out of the box (and I am a heavy guy, 100 kg). Service tech said he would adjust the mileage during second service and says it should go up to 85 kmpl minimum even for me.

I already have a Jupiter and travel about 40 km a day so I was spending a lot on petrol. Hence I went for this bike.

                      Hope this helps.

                      Regards,
                      Uday

Congrats for the new bike. I'm also planning to buy Bajaj Platina Comfortec for city and highway riding (touring).
Can you share some of your experiences with the bike like it's mannerisms in high speed and bad roads, top speed.
Thanks in advance and many happy miles.

I have brought the ct 100b.
Except comfort, reliability and mileage 80@40kmph on highway. Nothing is good as compared to splendor.
