Do you guys have any pointers on how to check the bike before delivery to ensure it's in perfect condition?

I will be more than happy if you point me to an existing thread/post for the same..

Check vin number for manufacturing date, check the bike visually for any damages.

Make sure you get owners manual, invoice, insurance, and an RTO slip if you take the bike after registration.

Don't forget to collect the registration papers /booklet after a month or so. Follow up with the dealer.

Just imagine, this guy tours on a brand new d390 and then finds out it is leaking oil, and the nearest svc is 100 kms away. You think a slipper clutch can help then?
        What about ride by wire?

Imagine He commutes in a D390 60 kms a day and not only has to put up with extra heat and the gearing, he would spend ₹500 extra on petrol every month compared to the CBR.
I see more motovloggers using D390 than the oldie CBR and touring happily on their D390. So, possibly not as many issues as you think. Does the CBR guarantee zero issues?

No, ofcourse not. Just because the bike isn't designed for touring doesn't mean you cannot take it out on the highway. You see scooters on the Himalayas too.

It's only when you compare the Honda CBR 250 and the Duke 390 on the basis of touring long distance would you find out which is made for what.

No doubt the Duke/RC 390 blows the CBR out of the water when it comes to performance. It's vfm proposition makes it the leader in the 250-400cc entry level category.

thread starter asked between 2 bikes. as far as i see we need not give him more options since he seems to know what exactly he wants. being a d390 owner, i can say it isnt that he wants.

my vote for cbr 250 abs. pick it up and you will be happy for 5 years and can save the comparison money with benelli wrt maintenance costs.

Benelli, if You want more power & have Time and Moolah to spare for your bike.
CBR, if You want a low maintinance, everyday bike & ok with its aging looks.
Duke 390, if you want an alrounder- Power and VFM, and can live with minor niggles.
P.S. If I had to choose between these 3, new D390 would be my option straight away.

haha... nice take on KTM, Sure you are a fan boy of CBR250 R.....

Most customers would explain why they bought a Bennelli to a friend like this : " It's an Italian bike, bro. Premium. Not your regular Japs."

How many people would say " Hey, it's a Chinese bike, designed by Bennelli also known as Keeway." That would take off the Sheen wouldn't it?
Well no offense meant, but they refer to Benelli as Italian just as they refer to Honda bikes as "Japaneese" while they're made right here in India, Just as "iPhone as American". So basically it's just how one see's it.

Not really a fan of Honda, although I still use a 15 year old Honda generator, and a 4 year old CBR 250 without much problems. I prefer Yamaha's styling and Kawasaki's Colors.

I got bored of the CBR 250 within a year of purchase, at only 12k on the odo. But it serves my purposes well. The heavy weight, the decent mileage, the long service interval makes for effortless mile munching. I don't need a bike to excite me, I have my neighbor's daughter for that.

I think all the bikes are good at their respective strongpoints.

The Benelli 300 is a great bike to have. Its reliable, smooth and sounds like an inline 3/4 bike. Part cost might be higher but i have not verified that yet. It's a bit on the heavier side too...but for touring that should help
The Yamaha R3 has a sweet high spinning motor with relatively flatter torque curve so its fun in any gear...! Best part & fit quality amongst all the bikes it also has great brakes and a brilliant ride quality. Stock tyres are inferior and the bike is expensive for a 300cc
The Honda CBR250 on the other hand is an all rounder. It's comfy as the suspension is on the softer side and has a smooth but character-less engine. Plus it has ABS too which the Yamaha still is not offered with
The RC390 is a track bike meant for the track. It's made by Bajaj so the part quality isn't upto the mark but nevertheless it's pretty exciting to ride. (I've got a duke 200 myself and yes, other than the poor part quality, the bike is fun to ride and its economical too....! )

My recommendation would be the R3 if you've got that kind of budget else the CBR250. There is a Benelli Tornado 300 coming out soon...!
