  • Need Help in finalising 150 cc Bike

    Hello Everyone,

    Personal info,

    Height-5'10"
    Age- 22
Weight - 80 Kg ( will be reducing very soon)
Budget - under 1 lakh rs
    Intended use - Office commute
    Fuel efficiency - 45 to 50
    Usage - 20% highway 80% city
    Daily running - 50 kms

I always wanted a gixxer from day it was launched, but could not buy it as i already had 2 bikes...now my new job forces me buy an efficient 150 cc bike which has good efficiency and is easy to maintain..the two bike that i have short listed after extensive research are Honda unicorn 150 and suzuki gixxer...
unicorn is a tested a proved bike with good fuel efficiency it almost ticks all the boxes except for the looks and features..

On the other hand i like gixxer very much but i am unsure about its reliability and efficiency in the long run..

I don't want to regret my decision as this will be my first new bike.

Gixxer has its niggles which suzuki is sorting out slowly.

You can also look at Fzs v2.0. Fuel efficiency will be close to a Gixxer under similar circumstances. Plus you get the benefit of having an EFI engine, no sold start issues, no altitude sickness and no petrol theft.

I had fzs v2 in my mind but it is quite underpowered compared to the other 150cc bikes available out there...

My previous motorcycle was Unicorn, I am riding Gixxer for the last 2 years.
After getting used to the reliability of unicorn I was a little skeptical going with Gixxer.

Reliability - Not even a single problem and not even a single penny spent unnecessarily for maintainence in 25k kms and 2 years.(excluding rs.46000 spent on repairs when my tenants son rammed it into autorickshaw)
Efficiency - It did 124kmph in 2014 december and 123kmph 2016 November. And I am always getting the mileage of 42~46 kmpl.

For city usage Gixxer is very good, but for highway use I liked Unicorn better because of seat and handlebar position.

@ The TS ... have you decided anything yet?
There is no update from you since a long time.
