1. Budget: 15 lakh
2. Age: 28
3. Height: 6'1"
4. Weight: 80
5. Intended usage : Weekend rides, daily short rides of upto 50km on highways, decent roads, possibly twisties on some weekends. WIll use a eparate bike for commuting. Won't
use it on poor roads. Nearest track is in Delhi, 150km away. No definite plans of taking to track in place, but would love to learn riding on track if time permits. Practically though,
little chances of track riding FOR NOW.
Bike type: Preferably sportsbike around 600cc. Initially wanted a sports tourer or something like the Multistrada. But I won't be able to make long tours (even for a couple of days)
for quite some time (3-4 years) for some reason, so figured getting that right now would be completely futile, though eventually I'd want one for sure.
With a sportsbike, I can atleast derive fun even on short 30 minutes rides. Yes, time is a constraint and that's why I think I should get a sportsbike.
I have an RC390 right now, had it for 2 years. Before this I had a duke 200 for 2 years that I've since sold. The seating on the RC390 was tough for a couple of weeks but now it feels
effortless and natural. So I don't think the seating/posture would pose a problem.
So far I'm really interested in the Triumph Daytona 675R. Test rode the STreet triple and was totally blown away (daytona wasn't available on that day). The daytona will be even
better from what I've heard and seen. Striple was easy as fvck to ride, comfortable and vibration free, such a smooth engine and terrific brakes too. But wind blast at higher speeds
was not to my liking.
The problems with the daytona that are making me delay the purchase are:
1. Possibilty of the 675R being discontined very soon, and even worse a Daytona 875 being introduced in its place. I can live with it being discontinued, since parts are assured for
10 years. But imagine an 875r being introduced 3 months later for a slightly higher price ,that would suck. A street triple 875 is confimed afaik, so the possibility of this happening is
very real.
2. The new Ninja 650, z650etc etc being introduced next month by Kawasaki
3. Time constraints: Won't get much time, maybe 30 minutes max a day to ride for atleast the next 3 years, except maybe weekends where I MIGHT get 1-2 hours and rarely 4-5
hours. Just how it is, no way around it. While for some it might mean that investing in an expensive bike isn't a great idea atm ,I think its all the more reason to get a really proficient
bike that I can learn on and keep riding through the years.
4. Price: around 14 lakh on road, its a great bike but is it that great for the price?
Options I am considering (in decreasing order of preference):
1. Daytona 675r (pros imo: everything, aesthetics cons imo: price, might be a tad bit small for 6'1 rider)
2. Street triple : fantastic bike, not a fan of the looks, otherwise everything almost perfect from what I observed
3. z800 (never ridden, never seen in person pros imo: looks, size, engine, sound cons: naked, heavy, imposing but not aesthetic for me)
4. ???the Benellis, ninjas
5. Need suggestions !!!!
To sum up, only need the bike for weekend rides to hills, and frequent daily short city/highway rides. Needs to be exciting, and an upgrade over my existing RC390.
Which bike to get (open to all suggestions)?
