  • Kawasaki Z650 or Duke 390

    Posting on behalf of a friend who is outside this forum;

    Intro;

    Currently owns a CBR250R that has done 1,45,000kms on the odo. Looking for a naked bike, had enough of faired vehicles. He is very technically sound and can literally rip apart the bike and put it together in two days.

    Requirements;
    1. Touring
    2. Low maintenance
    3. Good network for spares
    4. Suspension - Prefers a soft setup similar to the CBR250R
    5. Dimensions - He's 6'2 and 100+ Kilos, needs ample space (requires Duke 390 users inputs here, and is the RC more spacious in comparison?)

    Bikes considered:
    1. KTM Duke 390 (Probably the 2017 version)
    2. Kawasaki Z650

    Constraints:
    Budget. Can stretch upto 6 L.

    He understands the considerable power difference between the aforementioned vehicles, but rather viewing it from an Indian's POV, he also knows that one cannot exploit the 44 horses of the Duke on our highways, let alone the 70+ horses on the Kawa. (I've also asked him to check the Dominar 400, but the power to weight ratio is somewhat putting off)

    TIA

    Query Approved

    The Z650? Or the ER-6N?

    With those requirements, comfort should be a primary factor, which the Duke doesn't provide at all!
    Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

    Give your details here if you want to help your fellow xBhpian stranded in your city

      He's looking to pick one up next year, probably around Feb. I understand the er6n is no more in production, and it's gonna be christened the Z650 right?

      Comfort is a huge factor to be considered, but other than that cheapness of parts are a deciding factor too. And the z650 is,'t exactly cheap in terms of replacement parts. I did see a few D390's do the Raid de himalaya and they had serious mods. Can someone shed some light on those? Like what suspension setup was uses, and where we could source it from?
