  • Suggestion for a bike within 2 lakhs

    Hi,

    I am 5.7'' & around 85kgs
Currently I am riding Yamaha FZ(old model) from last 4 years which was second hand bike.

Requesting you suggestions to buy a new bike which will stay with me for next 5 years.

Budget: 2 lakhs (flexible with 10-15k)
Should not be very high on maintenance (as don't want to spend weekends with mechanic, which I am doing currently as my bike is used for more than 6/7 years)
Main use: Office to Home commute (32 kilometers both ways)
Should be good looking bike at the same time should be very comfortable and with good shock-ups as there are many potholes on my way (even thought it highway).
My Office timings does not allow me to test the speed because of Traffic so not crazy about speed and go on very long bike ride not more than twice-thrice in a year.

I am really confused with number of options

Impressed with the looks of RE Thunderbird. Also Hornet looks a good option with great look. RE Himalayan seems little high. Comfort wise I am pretty happy with FZ (but want to try something else, if this is best, I will re-think)

Will really appreciate your assistance to help with choosing a one.

    Regards
    Sam

    Query Approved

Check out the Mojo and Dominar as well. And if you are interested in the 200cc category, the Apache 200 and the soon to be launched NS200
Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

Give your details here if you want to help your fellow xBhpian stranded in your city

if you liked your older FZ, do consider FZ 25 that was launched yesterday. Yamaha should be reliable and similar to your older comfortable bike.

        Hi Sam,

You can try out these before you make up your mind.

~ Dominar - You need a budget VFM bike which is also not very harsh on your pocket in terms of maintenance, and Bajaj provides you with it. While many people may not agree with me on choosing Bajaj over many other brands. But personally, after owning 3 Bajaj bikes, I can surely say that Bajaj is way ahead of its competition in terms of design and power and cost.

~ Royal Enfield Himalayan - A very decent off-roader. Give it any type of road and it will be happy to go without hesitation. Slightly on the higher side as far as the On Road price is concerned, but it makes up for it in durability.

~ KTM Duke 200 - Extremely powerful for its class yet lightweight and easy to handle. A bit on the higher side if you consider the maintenance, but it surely won'd disappoint you as you'd always want to go that extra Km on this powerhorse.

There are many others which fall under the 2L price tag.
eg. KTM 390, which, with my personal experience on riding it to Ratnagiri from Mumbai. Heats up like hell and engine tends to cut-off if ridden at lower speeds for a longer period.

RE 350 classic or RE Thunderbird - I haven't ridden these ones for long to get acquainted with them, but you can still take a test ride and see if you are comfortable with them. Have heard that Thunderbird is very comfortable on long rides.

I would suggest you to try out as many bikes as possible before choosing the right one, as ultimately it's your decision and comfort zone.

        Cheers, ride safe.
        Aanand.
