  • Fz25 or r15S

I am planning to upgrade my bike from Shine. I considered R15S, Even though am not going to do track race because of build quality and best quality engine. After the launch of FZ25 i am little confused.

I am going to use for regular commute to office for about 25Km per day.. Occasional touring with friends on 3 or 4 day trip.

Looking for the suggestion from experts.

    Query Approved

Take a test ride and then decide. On paper the FZ25 makes much more sense.
Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

If you are above 5'9, then R15 S will be difficult to ride because of it's forward leaning stance. I'm 6'.

      Better TD both of them

The common story that you'll come across is R15 will become laborious to drive in traffic after driving for a while. So meanwhile the FZ25 hits the showroom, I suggest you to borrow a R15S from any of your friends and do a long test drive, preferably in traffic. If your heart still wants the R15 after that, still wait for the FZ25 and take a TD once it's available. As suggested by The Monk, the FZ25 makes more sense on papers, considering your occasional touring requirements.

          Cheers!

Then try with R15 V2 bro, the rider's seat is of same height. Considering your height you won't be having trouble riding it for short commutes. Long rides may cause back pain. Although I've seen people doing long rides. May be they are used to it. And as Said by "The Monk" FZ25 looks better on the specs sheet.

              hello ,
wait for fz25 as mentioned by you as for daily commute and occasional touring purpose would be a good ride. if possible think for fazer aswell its good for long comfortable rides and the front windshield in highways will save you from wind blast . r15 might be a little
trouble on long ride as due to sitting position.
              Take a test ride always
Apologies i am not an expert but i hope my suggestion might be little help for you[emoji4]
              regards

Thx cgassassin, gowty... Once fz25 hits showroom Will do some test drive and decide..

Also mechanically speaking, when a 150cc bike ridden 350-400km per day will make it more stressed than a 250cc? Or how it works.. Hope bhp plays a different role..

                  Re: Fz25 or r15S

on long rides it might be a little stressful if going in high speed crusing as gear ratio is different on different bike , for eg duke 200 gear ratio is quick ... its a revving machine so always have to upshift and downshift constantly and bajaj avenger being on crusing segment and for highways you can go comfortable at one single gear for long time. As 150-250cc difference is crusing on higher speed than 250cc will be less stressed engine if you go on high speed and 150cc engine for crusing it will be little stressed (not smooth) on high speed but can do smooth ride 90-110 depends upon a bike and gear ratios.
correct me if i am wrong 😄

                    Hi bro,

I am same height as you and owner of 3 year old R15V2. The riding position is aggressive and will take a toll on your wrists and back. The wrist pain will go away as you spend more time on the saddle, but if you have a history of the back pain, R15 is not for you.

As for your query regarding stressed engine. It does not depend on the CC of the engine but the way the engine is tuned. The R15 engine is a very high revving racing engine, so it will always be on its toes, urging you to redline, while a Avenger 150 or unicorn 150 engine is touring and commuting oriented engines, so they will be relaxed, but will be slow to accelerate. It all depends on how the engine is tuned. But this does not mean that you cannot tour on a high revving bike. I tour on my r15 and usually cruise at 80-90 Kph at about 6.5 - 7 K RPM on 6th gear which is quite relaxed for a highway.

Yes the bhp plays a role. But it depends on when the said bhp is produced. As said above a relaxed bike will produce max torque and bhp at low to medium revs, whereas a racing bike will produce its peak power at very high revs. As for the R15 anything after 6k rpm is really great and you get a very good pull all the way to redline. And the engine is always eager to redline, which makes it all the more fun.

My advice would be to take test rides of both the bikes and then choose the one that suits your riding style.
                    Happy bike hunting.
I would like to thank my legs for supporting me, my arms for being always by my side and my fingers; I could always count on them.

Thanks for your detailed reply.. Will do test ride and reply. Guess based on my previous riding style in Shine, FZ25 will make me comfortable. Also r15 in Chennai city traffic won't get that much chance to rev.
