  • 1-1.5 lakh highway commuter

    Hi guys,
My daily commute is about 40kms (2 way) consisting of 90℅ highway and 10℅ city. I'm looking to upgrade from my Bajaj Pulsar 180 dtsi UG 4 which has got around 55000 Kms on the odo. Buying timeframe is within a fortnight to a month.
Also need to mention that the motorcycle will get quite a bit in terms of touring miles on weekends
I've shortlisted the following motorcycles :
    1. Bajaj Pulsar 200 NS (Just got relaunched)
    2. Yamaha FZ 25
    3. Mahindra Mojo (After stretching the budget way over the 1.5 limit)

I'm not considering RE and other traditional cruisers as they're just not my type and the waiting is too long. If anyone could also help me out with regards to the OTR price of the Mojo (Pune only) that would be really helpful.
Your opinions and suggestions are most welcome

The FZ25 sounds ideal. Take a test ride and then decide!

What about the Dominar? It's got ABS. Much better deal than the Mojo IMO since Bajaj has got a wider service network than Mahindra.

You can also consider the Honda CBR 250, which holds the speed record for Kashmir-Kanyakumari. It corners better than Mojo, gives better mileage than the Bullets, Dominar and the Mojo, and should have less problems than a similarly maintained Bajaj.

Hey man, if these 3 are your final options (i recommend adding Dominar - similar price band) then I would shortlist to Dominar or Mojo.

why mojo: bigger fuel tank (but mileage concerns), higher torque, radials. But lack of a*s*s could be issue
why Dominar: great pricing, ABS (none other have it IIRC), oodles of torque (double than NS) & power, triple spark, slipper clutch etc and yes it costs lesser than mojo i think. Can't ignore Dominar with all that it has to offer at the price point.

If compared with FZ 25, i don't see any reason why not Dominar.

you can compare these bikes on internet, read reviews and of course, longer test drives will confirm which bike selects you

        cheers !

Agreed Monk san. Just waiting for the bike to hit showrooms. Maybe sometime this week.

Leech bro. Haven't considered the Dominar yet because I'm waiting for owner reviews to pop up with niggles, service costs, mileage and the like. Will be getting a power cruiser later in the year for Dad. Will consider it then along with the Mojo (if updated in any way) and the BMW 310 GS.

The CBR w/o ABS is around 1.9 L in Pune. The only reason I haven't listed it is I would only buy the ABS (at 2.2 L), which is way out of budget, even though I've ridden it extensively on tour and love it to bits.

iBHP, Dominar reasons listed above. Mojo ASS is a major issue. Also, various owners are quoting different mileage figures (obviously varied riding style factors). However, the tribe is strong here in Pune, so ASS shouldn't be an issue. Pan India may be a problem while touring. Just need test drives and OTR Price quotes for all 3, which I hope to get by the weekend. Cheers mate !

Mojo tribe may be strong but the product is not that good specially the ASS and their response time. Noe: this is from a person who owned a Mojo and did Mumbai Delhi too on it.

Consider the CBR 250 or the Dominar, both should meet your requirements.

              Re: 1-1.5 lakh highway commuter

              So some good news,

My parents went and booked the 2017 Duke 200 (White) behind my back. I just got the call for PDI today.
As I was keeping the KTM at the top end of my budget, it's surprising they chose it over the RS200 and NS 200.

Looks like I'm joining Club Orange. Looking forward to many happy miles on the new beast.

Thanks a lot once again for your advice guys. Ride hard, ride safe.

Mods can kindly close this thread.

              Cheers

Its not the ride, its the rider.

That record was/is held by Dr. Arnob Gupta (aka arn) who would do it on any bike.

Well said that it all depends on the rider. I heard Dr. Arnob was critically injured due to an accident. Is he alright now?
