  • City + Highway + Comfort + Budget = 404 not found

    1. Budget : 1-1.10l on road (but kind of ready to shell out more after seeing dominar)
    2. Age : 23

    3. Height : 6'1
    4. Weight :75
    5. Intended usage : City riding (Office commute and client meetings) but i am a aspiring tourer on weekends
    6. Fuel Efficiency requirement : 30ish give or take

I am beginning a new job soon which will require me to travel intra city, so will have to face traffic a lot. But my heart lies in touring on highways. I owned a rtr160 earlier and i enjoyed that bike but it was uncomfortable riding in that posture for long.

I aspired to buy a thunderbird for some time but the internet wasn't kind on it and my mind moved on to more modern pieces of machinery. I had then kind of set my mind on as200 but after seeing the dominar i have been lactating like a dog but i will have to stretch my budget by almost 1/3rd for this beast.

And also the as200 is not available in the market for sometime now.

But in case i decide to not go for the dominar, what else fits my bill? what would be the best alternatives to 'a bit expensive dominar' and 'unavailable as200' ??

Ninja edit: I want a comfortable pillion rider seat so i can take my parents from point A to B sometimes.

Yes, i have my eyes on that too. Have it in my list of potential buys.

But i am not too sure about the pillion rider comfort, seat looks a bit small and higher. Not sure if it will treat people nicely.

You can look at: They might be a little high on budget piece. As you put Dominar on the list, I took the liberty to peg around that range.
        1. Mahindra Mojo
        2. CBR250
        3. Pulsar RS, Perhaps?
        4. Himalayan is another option
        5. Yamaha Fz25

Take a test drive with your mother/father and ask them for their experience. That would be the best way to know how the pillion feels.

Thanks for the suggestions, Himalayan is lucrative if i do extend my budget. Fz25 is already on my radar. Other bikes not so much.

and regarding the pillion seat, i guess that's the only way to be sure about it being comfortable for my peeps.

When i went to the baja showroom i checked out the newer one, not a bad bike at all. Looks good too but the on road price comes to around 1.15 and at that price i feel like adding a few Ks and getting the dominar non abs at around 1.55 on road.

i know i know i have decision making issues...

Mate, I'm sailing in the same boat as yours, and in fact many are. For most bike manufacturers in India, the 6+ footers are not the target audience. So there are only handful of bikes that tick most of the right boxes that you've mentioned. Since I don't see a P220 in your list, would like to know your take on that.

So far the FZ25 seems to tick most of the right boxes on paper but still have to wait for the TD and official reviews. So my two cents are the P220, and FZ25.

Note: I'm not recommending other bikes such as CBR250(presonal fav), Mojo, and Himalayan because they are more of a tourer than a commuter, and they don't seem to tick most of your requirements.

                    Cheers!

I like the 200ns better than 220, 220 seems very outdated and i am not really a fan of it's styling. Waiting for some FZ25 reviews to roll in before deciding.

But NS200 is hitting the right spot when it comes to my budget. What do you think of the ns200?

I too like the NS200. It's a very good bike on paper but somehow, no offence to NS200 owners, I personally feel the bike lacks soul. Also I heard the NS200(internet jargon) is known for its infamous engine vibrations after 7 or 8k rpm. Since I have no experience riding the NS for a long time I can't really comment on that. Fellow owners can throw more light on this.

                        Cheers!

Well NS (older one) sure does vibrate between 5K to 6K RPM, which can be reduced considerably by switching to full synthetic oil. Also 7K, 8K RPM correspond to 100, 115KmpH respectively and it's practically impossible to reach such speeds in City. NS does has one gem of an Engine from Bajaj stable, It has very good top end Torque. The bike comes alive after 5k RPM, and it will easily push all the way to the Redline.

Second that. I use FS and I feel vibrations when I need to fell otherwise its practically usable. I cruise at 100 which at 6.5k/7K and I dont see a problem at that range too. I feel vibrations only at 8k+ when I am at 115KMPH+

Hey Iam also 6"1'. Are Gixxer SF and RTR 200 4V not meant for taller riders like us? Is the 200NS MUCH better in that regard?
Also, how much of a difference in mileage(in city) can I expect between these 200cc bikes and the 150cc gixxer?
I've shortlisted these 3 bikes for myself. Priorities: Good sus for city, good midrange perf, comfy seating position, good ASS
