    Hi Guys,




    Looking for a used Karizma. Now I see two options avaiable in used market. One is older ZMR and the newer R. I have gone thorough the fourm and found out that newer karizma has vibs on the other hand older one is smoother but having less power. Please help me decide which one will be better for touring. My finding are:


    ZMR Pros:


    FI Injection.
    Rear Disc brakes.
    Digital console.


    Cons:
    Fuel pump cost bomb and not readily available. I cannot spend 14k on fuel pump. Can we use any third party alternatives?
    Does not look good to me, looks bulky and heavier.




    R 2014 Pros:


    More power.
    Wider tyre.
    Contrary to public opinion it looks very good to me, looks like proper tourer machine.


    Cons:
    Vibrations, how severe are they? I went to test ride but could not get one.


    ZMR is avaiable for 50k 2012 model. Done 8k Kms on odo.
    R 2014 is avaiable for 50k 2014 model done 6k on odo.




    Please share your suggestions to choose one. Thanks.

      Nearly 4-5 years and only 8K on odo. That's too less.My thoughts. I don't own a Karizma but has ridden the above said old FI model. Go for it. That's what I would say. Even though the new one has more power , the old one still is a rocket.
      And when it comes to vibes, initially you will be concentrated on the power and acceleration . Once you start clocking more kilometers and when you go for long tours , you will start noticing the vibes and how irritating they are.
      So go for the old one and I personally don't prefer the new one's styling.

        So, classic ZMR has 3 points and 3 strikes, newer ZMA has 4 points and 1 strike (from your observations).

        Apart from this, classic ZMR spares are tough to source. Normal consumables are just about ok, but any non consumable part isn't easily available. It takes months to get parts. ZMA is better in this regard.
        Then, the ZMA is newer, so you get a newer bike. Irrespective of the number of kilometers, you get a fresh(er) bike in terms of years. Also insurance IDV would be higher and you can get zero dep cover for longer period of usable time vis-a-vis a 4 year old ZMR.

        Yes, initial batch of the new ZMA had issues, so check this ZMA's service history at an ASC.

        All of these said, classic ZMR is a little smoother and has maybe 20% less vibes (both have vibey plastics and foot rests, engine is smooth in general).

          Being with the Karizma bikers club in Bangalore, i have seen a lot of newer models (ebr facelifted)of Karizma r, and Zmr having some or the other issues. The older models of Zmr and R were pretty much running without any hassles in the time i was with them. Being a Older model Karizma R owner i can vouch for it.
          Anyway that was just my opinion and experience so far. Anybike that you will prefer, please check the fairing joints and check with Rto for any pending cases. Other than that do carry out some general inspections of the bike. Plus do look out for more options and dont just be restricted to these two models available.
