I bought a duke 390 in late 2014 having been impressed by the bike's handling and power but was let down by how many problems crept up and how big, annoying and time consuming they were (not to mention that the bike turned into a damned money pit). But its a good thing as now I can sell it and I also have come into some money so I figured it was time for a nice actual beginner sport bike (AKA a 600-650cc maybe). I was thinking nothing too fancy, but good enough for both highway sprints every weekend
and a mild sedate city commute every once in a while
.But I couldn't make up my mind as there were just too many good choices out there. I went to the triumph guys here in Hyderabad but they were not up to the mark as far as their sales department was concerned (I actually almost paid the full amount in cash for the street twin) though I would still go for it if I could be assured that I wasn't buying another eventual money pit ( In terms of A-S-S provided by Triumph). Then I went and rode the Benelli 600i which was a lot of fun but as usual had bad quality and basic fit and finish of switch gear (I can live with that) and also really short service intervals (can't live with that). I also saw the 2017 Ninja 650 on the internet and was impressed but with the present Kawa-bajaj turf war going on it doesn't make sense to drop money on a Kawa. I went to Harley and really liked the 883 iron but the clunky (understatement) gear shift and the lack of any actually useful digital gear on the bike kinda led me away from it, couple that with a price tag of over 9 lakhs I was frankly disappointed.
So simply put I am stumped. Please help me decide what to buy or what to wait for. My budget is up to 9 lakhs (would help if it didn't exceed that and would be better if it stayed under in fact) and I would use the bike on both highways and city commutes so it needs to have a less committed seating position and comfortable ergonomics and a few digitle bells and whistles like the ABS, gear shift indicator and tacho would really be appreciated. Just FYI I am not looking to buy second hand so no need to suggest the same.
Any help would be appreciated including where I can go in or around Hyderabad to find dealers and test rides.
Thank you all
