  • Need of a trouble free easy daily commuter !

    Hello experts,

I have been following XBHP for many years now. I am in search of a easy commuter for Bangalore city, preferably a scooter. Currently owning RX135 and do not want to rough use it as I adore this 2-stroke beauty a lot. No free parking inside office premises is one more issue and paying 100/- everyday is becoming a headache, and I am parking my bike some where on road side and I hear so many RX bikes are getting stolen . This is a brief reason for which I am looking for a scooter.

Now the confusing part. i.e, "which one to choose ?". There are so many options but no scooter impressed me. After checking all scooters, I came back to Honda Activa 4G 100CC, because its honda engine and it looks sleek and ageless(not that I liked it very much ). I know activa suspension is terrible, but I don't find other scooters too with telescopic suspension very comfortable in broken roads. Now, experts please guid me is it a good choice in today's day when other scooter offer many more features ? or am I missing something and test any other scooter ?

    Thanks in advance

    Regards,

    aviB

    Query Approved

You pay Rs 100 everyday for parking a two-wheeler

You should move to a different city instead of bike
Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

Give your details here if you want to help your fellow xBhpian stranded in your city

You pay Rs 100 everyday for parking a two-wheeler - spending 2200/- per month on 2 wheeler parking is not a good idea.

You should move to a different city instead of bike - not possible as I love Bangalore.

Please give me some suggestions in case if I am making a wrong choice with Activa 4g. Any owners here may throw some light on really bad experiences.

      Thanks

Well, almost all the scooters are the same. Not much difference in the ride quality or the engine.
So you might as well buy the most popular Activa, as it will ensure easy spare part availability in future and the huge Honda network is a added bonus.
If you want, you can test ride TVS Jupiter, Yamaha Alpha, Yamaha Ray Z and Suzuki 125cc twins (Access and Swiss or whatever it is called).
All of these are good machines and are more or less the same . They are trouble free and do not need any extra maintenance apart form regular servicing(which is cheap).

If you buy a popular model (Activa, Jupiter), you will not have problems with the spare parts in future. Yamaha is good, I bought a Aplha for my sister about 2.5 years ago and it is serving well. Access and other less popular models might face the trouble of spare parts and less service centers.

Take test rides for all the them and choose the one you like the most.
I would like to thank my legs for supporting me, my arms for being always by my side and my fingers; I could always count on them.

          .

          Amazing reply Ankey. Thanks

Friends say TVS Jupier is better due to its longer wheelbase and external fuel filling. Will take one more test ride this week and decide. The jupiter's seat is still a big downer for me as I slide towards front on the move. In this regard Activa has spot-on seating position.

Yamaha - I am a Yamaha fan but their scooters did not impress me.

Suzuki - I will stay away from Suzuki. Their ASS is ultra pathetic as they will screwup their machines which are actually good (personal exp with GS150).

I worked in Bangalore few years back. In the area (ulsoor cambridge layout) i resided, often petrol theft use to happen if you park outside home. On seeing your post about possibility of bike getting stolen, you brand new scooter also could be stolen. Either use volvo bus for your commuting (If it doesn't hurt your biker ego) or buy a beaten(literally) used scooter, which nobody interested to steal irrespective of where you park, because spending 100 per day on parking is just not meaningful. That money could be well spent for your week end ride expenses, If you commute by volvo & keep your bike in home safely. Just think about it. You don't need to travel by bike always.

But Suzuki. Access is the best if you ask which is the best.
