  • Is Z800 a good buy now?

    Hello friends,

Currently I ride Benellii TNT 300.

Now I want to upgrade to Z800.

After a bit of research I have decided to go with Z800. I like naked sports. Inline 4 is my dream. I am not happy with Benelli bikes.

    Why Z800

    • My maximum budget is 8L. I somehow can manage till 9L. Beyond that no way I can afford.
    • My height is 5.6 and after the test ride I felt very comfortable on Z800.
    • Want a inline 4 with fair amount of power.
    • Though I know Z900 is launched but in Bangalore the price would be nearly 11 lac which no way I can afford.
    • I will use the bike for solo trips. Occasionally road trip with pillion. For luggage on Z800 I will purchase Cortech saddle bag and tank bag which are well fit on Z800.

If some of you can guide me on this would be great. My confusion is,

Am I doing any mistake buying a bike which is no more in production ? And Z800 is not the only bike I will buy. After about 2 years I have a plan to go for better touring bike.

Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

Damn you should have booked it by today, you would have been eligible for big discounts.

SKT, I would advice you to wait a bit and buy the Z900 when your budget permits. Z900 is a comprehensive update and 20 kgs less than the Z800 besides of many other improvements.

Its worth waiting and getting the Z900.

          Cheers

If Z900 on road price is around 11L in Bangalore then I no way can afford it. And if I have to wait then more than a year I have to wait.

Thank you so much for your input by the way.

If you can mention fee point for NO Z800 would be very helpful.

Yes go book the bike tomorrow and ask for dicounts. With these BS3 being staged out some company are offering good discount.
I think in Banglore it would be around 7.6L which comes under your budget limit as well.

You can get the registration done later on but the booking has to be done before 31st March.

Its one hell of a powerful machine with good power delivery. But yes you will have to invest in good riding gear and helmet as well.

About your confusion, there are many bikes which are not in production but still in demand. And you are lucky Kawasaki is coming as a stand alone company so service, sales and support would get better in coming days. And z800 is not something which will go obsolete so soon, not for atleast next 5 to 10yrs. In India also z800 sold like hot cakes so support has to be there from the company.

I have ridden a friends Z800 many times and on its own its a superb value for money inline four - extremely smooth, powerful and comfortable.

The only negative if at all is the weight of 230 kgs and tight turning radius.
Since you are already comfortable with the bike, just go ahead and buy it, you will not regret the purchase.

All the best and do update us with your decision.

Thank you so much. I wish I could afford Z900. Since my budget is right for now, your points make more sense to me. I have booked the bike

Well I would say with every time you will find a new model which will attract you more. But its your decision which one you want. If you want one then stick to that, or else every 3month there is a new model, if you wait then you will keep on waiting.

And by the way Congrats for the booking, which colour? and keep this thread updated to when you go to take the delivery to your owndership issue.

My friend DON'T be confused, it is a super selling great bike with no issues, except the weight and turning radius (I mentioned this earlier) which is actually NO PROBLEM AT ALL. Very stable at high speeds also because of the weight.

It is only when you compare it with the Z900 then the 900 becomes a better motorcycle overall. This is normally the case with all new launches being better than the bike they replace.

Just go ahead, take delivery and enjoy your bike.

All the best, do post a ownership review after you take delivery.

                        Cheers

You bet! I learnt riding on my Dad's Lambretta. He bought me my first RX 100 in October 1987. Those days RX was the KING

Over a span of time, I owned 3 RX 100's
1987 the Red, 1994 Black and then another Red. The first two were new and the last one was second hand.
After that I also had a silver Shogun for sometime

Used a very close friends RD350 too for a long time.

                            Great bikes with super memories.

                            Cheers

have you considered the CBR 650F?? heard they're heavily discounted (free Navi & all)

one thing I heard about the Z800 is that the CoG is pretty high, so someone of your height might want to take a test ride & then try to do a small "U" turn in a tight spot and see if you can manage the weight (if possible try to do it with the tank full)..

My friends who are similar height as yours found it difficult to handle the mammoth, once on the highway, it's a breeze. but trouble comes on the slow speeds & turning.. please don't just drop a load of money on the Z800.. take a calculated decision..

OT : I learnt to ride on an old bicycle, but my first motorcycle is my dad's HH CD100 which is still with us now lol..

when I sit on it, it's too small & I feel like I'm a big elephant sitting on top of a small skinny rat..

live long.. live happy.. that's the best revenge that can be served to the people who hate you..
