    Hi,
I have almost finalised Himalayan for my leh bike tour but just have a small doubt as my height is 5. 4ft & Himalayan height is on higher side ... Advice requested ,will it be comfortable partner for me for leh bike tour .

Or please suggest some alternative of Himalayan in same budget which can fulfill my purpose . I will be driving bike least in city on daily basis.

    Query Approved
Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

Give your details here if you want to help your fellow xBhpian stranded in your city

Hi Vicks, I am attaching a Motorbeam link regarding various issues with the Himalayan, please go thru and also do a google search on "problems and issues with the RE Himalayan" and then take a call whether to use it for your trip.

Royal Enfield Himalayan Quality Issues Is An Extreme Case Of Having Inferior Build Quality Thereby Rendering It Unfit For Its Sole Purpose Of Cruising

Of course for all the negatives there are people who have done this trip on RE's, you will have to decide that for yourself.

The RE Himalayan has just been launched with FI, sadly no ABS still.

        Cheers

Two days back RE upgraded the 2017 Himalayan with FI. If its an open loop system just like any other RE (500cc) with FI, it may still struggle at higher altitudes. But FI is surely a welcome change. It will become a better proposition now. Keep a look at the prices which will be anounced in a few more days to come.

As far as the need for a long range tourer goes, Dominar is anyday better at it than a Himalayan as per performance. Build quality on both seem to have faced issue in some form or other.

I would say get a Himalayan for what its made for, off-road. For long distance highway touring, it just doesn't cut it, though.
I mean, Leh is not the only tour you're gonna do, its just one of them. Himalayan is super-good for Leh circuit which is full of off-road but what if you wanna do a long range highway tour later? Think of it.

Do try out the FZ250 Yamaha-caught in the same quandry of Himalayan and FZ250-but for your height, the Himalayan can be a handleful with its high weight and high CG-do ride the FZ250 before paying advance.
I am considering Himalayan only because of its super cushy suspension and pillion comfort as the wife loved the ride.
On all other fronts the FZ250 is a knock out winner.
Will be assessing the pillion seat of the FZ250 along with my better half in the coming days and then take the final call.

Have you done with the test ride? if not try , that will give you an idea. Don't pick bike only for doing Leh circuit, choose based on your needs. Go and try test ride with various machines...
