I have spent a fair bit of time with the NS (3.5 years) and just acquired the Dominar (1.5 months). Have ridden the 220 on and off. All 3 are quite different in almost every way. Heck the only thing they have in common are probably the abysmal rear brakes.

On a more serious note please find some points below for each:

Pulsar 220 - Big daddy which challenged the Karizma. Its probably won more traffic light drag races than any bike and will probably continue to do so! Way too common, but extremely reliable if maintained well (read as regular servicing). If you need a highway mile muncher with the protection of a fairing, then out of the 3 this is probably the best. In my opinion it has decent punch for our highways and mileage wise it is probably the best of the 3. You should get in the vicinity of 40 - 45 if ridden in a sane manner. The negatives is probably the brakes, no ABS and of course the fact that its been around longer than most bikes can hope to last in the market.

NS 200 - Affordable and good looking naked. Marginally faster (debatable) than the 220 but has no wind protection for the highway. Mileage in the vicinity of 35 - 40. For me it was extremely reliable. Needs fully synthetic oil to keep vibes at bay which in my opinion are more than the 220. Its more attention grabbing than a 220 and feels more nimble due to lack of fairing. The brakes have better feel but sadly no ABS. The new version looks sweet in the dual tone. Normally Bajaj botches up paint jobs, but this time around the dual tone has been done tastefully. Sounds excellent north of 7000 rpms and yes you can do some very good cornering/leans on it.

Dominar - You have probably read tons about it. Its big, heavy and purposeful. Not at all a drag racer, though if you force it, it will leave the 220 behind. The engine sounds bassy. Its lower than the NS (not sure about the 220) and if you are short this helps. Its very planted and stable on turns too. The brakes are very sharp and the ABS variant is worth its weight in gold. Gives me a mileage of 28 -30 in the city. I think this is much below what would be acceptable to you. But please remember this is a 400 cc. There is some engine heat in bumper to bumper traffic. As of now, its a massive attention magnet. The disappointing part is the harsh suspension and the refinement levels, which at this price point should have been way better. Also lack of colour options makes it a bit boring to some.

Dominar would be a good upgrade if you don't have any issues with the mileage.

Go for dominar ABS it's safe, but if mileage is a priority and if you commute in heavy traffic then you got to rethink

I've ridden 220 on and off too.


I was avoiding 220 because it seems to be everywhere and old technology used.
But there is are positive point to it too.
I know what that bike is,
If i break down i can get it fixed like anywhere plus even I know some basic repairs
And Fairing as you said will be a Positive point.

I was avoiding that as few of my friends are again on the point.
I have a 180CC one, why getting a new 200cc?

Heating is not a issue, neither a lower fuel effeciency of 5-6kmpl
Yes i have a short height 5'6
I just don't want to regret later that I spent 1,50,000+ just for a much daily commute and some nice himachal trips

I get altitude problems in my p180 everytime when on the hills. Does 200ns\220 have the same?

I have to agree with Aditya at this point Throttler.

On most of the surfaces you should do fine on the NS. However on sloping surfaces where your ride height will change or if for example you stop and have to place your legs where there is a 1 inch pothole, you will have to lean the bike a lot to get a firm footing.

Please dont take this as a criticism for your height. I mean it with the best of intentions. My father (god rest his soul) was 5 ft 7 and preferred the bullet because of the low seat height.

In this regard the Dominar is better since it is lower than then NS. Test ride both and decide buddy.
