  • Victor or Passion XPro

Looking for a 110-125cc motorcycle city commuting. Between Passion Xpro and TVS Victor which should I choose?

    Details below:
    1. Budget - <65k
    2. Age - 40
    3. Height - 5'10"
    4. Weight - 70kg
    5. Intended usage - City commuter, heavy traffic
    6. Fuel Efficiency requirement - ~50kmpl
    7. City & Highway percentage usage - 100% City
    8. Approximate Daily / Monthly running - ~5-10 km per day
    9. City / Town /Village of residence - Hyderabad
    10. Brand / Bike type preference - TVS/Hero/Yamaha . (definitely no Bajaj, mahindra, suzuki, Honda)

    Requirements:
    1. Should be good in heavy traffic (i.e bike should be lightweight) with decent Low End Torque
    2. Must have front disk brake.
    3. Need decently soft suspension to smoothen out bumps.
    4. Do NOT need sporty handling or high accelaration.
    5. Good headlight, tires (atleast 3.0 in rear tire) for safety.
    6. Should be easy to service and maintain.
    7. mileage is not a constraint since the daily running will be quite low ~5-10km.
    8. Should be able to carry two people without strain.(I find 100cc bikes to be a bit underpowered.)
    9. Engine needs to be quiet and refined without excessive NVH.

For various reasons, I do not want to buy Bajaj, Honda, Mahindra or Suzuki. That leaves me with Hero, TVS and Yamaha.

I have narrowed it down to Hero Passion Xpro or TVS Victor. Test rode both, and the Victor ticks all my boxes, but I hardly see any on the roads, whereas the Passion is everywhere. I find the Victor to be superior in terms of its headlight, and build quality. Lastly, TVS has launched a BS4 version of the Victor, whereas the Xpro is not yet launched in BS4 ( since it is a honda derived engine). If I want to buy the Passion Xpro, the only choice is the used market.

However, all the reliable mechanics I spoke to are dead against TVS Victor, and recommend ONLY the Passion. Also the whole city is full of Passions (sic). It seems to outsell the Victor by a factor of 10 or more. Should I go with my gut instinct and get the Victor, or should I listen to the mechanics advice (and people's favorite) and stick to the Passion Xpro?

( I have read thru many reviews for each bike, and most automotive journalists seem to prefer the Victor over other competitors, but local Mechanics have a totally different view.)

many thanks for reading thru, would much appreciate learned members opinions.

Local mechs will always vote for the tried and tested over something new.

Initially how puncture shops used to curse tubeless tyres. Even now they charge extra for tubeless tyre repair, even though it takes less time and effort.
Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

Give your details here if you want to help your fellow xBhpian stranded in your city

You are absolutely right, regarding mech's conventional preference for old stuff. just that sometimes I like to take mech's feedback since they may see regular failures/flaws in design of the bike that are not obvious to us as users.

Yamaha Saluto 125 fits your budget.
It's refined, have better LET than the two 110cc bikes you have narrowed down.

Personally, I find Saluto seems better for your requirement. Yes, Saluto doesn't have bells and whistles of Victor.

First thing you need to find, If there is a decent Service center for TVS in your area for regular servicing. If yes, It should be the Victor for you.
HH Dawn - TVS Star City - Yamaha Gladiator - TVS RTR 180 - Honda CBR 250R - Yamaha R3

Saluto should be a good choice for your requirements.

OP bought used Victor. He supposed to have dropped a line about it, but didn't.
