  • What bike to get next? help

    Hello Extra breaking horsepower forum,

Already sounds like the perfect place for me to be to make the best choice. At the moment I own a 2013 KTM 450 EXC-F and in all honesty, it is by far the best bike I have ever owned. The sheer build quality stands out alone and then you get that awesome amount of power that will get you over just about anything. I and the lads would get togeather and go offroading which in I'm not all that good at but it's fun never the less. Now, I am looking to put my dirtbike days behind me for a while and was looking for something a little lower in height and more power! But after quite a lot of looking and banging my head on the table, I just can't make a decision. I will place 3 bikes below some specs and prices, please tell me your thoughts.

    2016 Yamaha YZF R1
Engine type: 998cc, liquid-cooled inline 4 cylinder DOHC; 16 valves
    Bore X Stroke: 79.0mm x 50.9mm
    Compression Ratio: 13.0.01
    Fuel delivery: Injection
    Transmission: 6-speed w/multiple slipper clutch
    Second-hand price: $11.000

    2016 Ducati Monster 1200 S
Engine type: 1,198cc Testastretta 11 L-Twin, 4 Desmondromically actuated valves per cylinder, liquid cooled
Fuel Delivery: Electronic fuel injection system, full ride-by-wire system
Transmission: 6-speed Light action, wet, multiple clutches with hydraulic control. Self-servo action drive, slipper action on oner-run.
    Second-hand price: $14.000

    2016 Suzuki GSX-R1000
Engine type: 999.8 cc, DOHC inline-4
    Fuel delivery: Ride-by-wire
    Transmission: 6 speed
    Second-hand price: $10.000

Sorry about the specs on the bottom two bikes I couldn't find any more detailed specs. All three bikes were found on this site http://www.used.forsale/australia/ so feel free to check them out on there to get a more clear perspective.

So, which one would you guys choose? and when going to view and test ride the bikes, what should I look out for in terms of maintenance? is there anything in particular that I should be looking at on these beasts??

Really looking forward to speaking with you all and making my next big decision!!

    Thanks

    Thread approved!

Any reasons for not keeping the base 2017 Gixxer 1000 in the list? It's supposed to be among the cheaper 1000s in the Americas, no?
BTW, welcome to xBhp and we hope to be an integral part of your journey!

@JohnsonT Welcome to xBhp and enjoy your time here...

Interesting choice; however missing a Honda from the list...any particular reason

If you are in USA, than second hand Yamaha will still be reliable than any other bike under the choice at noted above.

Welcome to xBhp. Why not the Triumph street triple 765? Or the GSX S -1000 (naked), the 765 would be lighter like a KTM and perform like a litre class, as you want something light as well as agile like your 450 with solid built quality. The GSX would be heavier than the 765 but it has the Legendary K5 motor from the Gixxer 1000. 🙂

The three bikes above are just bikes that I am familiar with being quite popular but I like the suggestions you guys have given so I've gotta go check them out now. I will be back after a little research
