      Since you are planning to keep your NS (though you might like R3 in city also) and have flexible budget, i think its better you consider R3. Since the big bike you are opting is mainly for touring, then R3 is the best option than Duke. Twin cylinder with better mid to top end performance. Added to that aerodynamic fairing. With R3 you might not feel lack performance when compared to Duke.
      Regular maintenance wise there is not much different in cost between R3 and duke AFAIK.
      P.S : I dont own any of these bikes, iam just like you waiting for R3.

          Finally got to test ride the 390 &amp; 250 today. My opinion: 390 is definitely not a bike to be used in the city by any chance. I mean bumper to bumper. If ones usage is 65% + city use then my suggestion would be dont even consider the 390

            Had test rode the r3 2 months ago in rain, feel its better to use in city in comparison to 390

              Not sure if the new 2017 R3 will launch and GOD knows when that will happen and with GST round the corner which will be applicable from July 2017 Duke 390 seems to be the best bet for now

                If you plan to go for the 390 then best is you book it today & ask for delivery within a week only then you save on gst rates.
