Which one to get - New Dominar or Used Duke 390?
I own white ZMR (2013) model and always felt good in cities. But as I hit highways, I feel under-power. I neither want to tweak ECU nor change air filter (as KnN also increases the power by slight range). So decided to get another with higher torque - bhp combo. There is a gap of 1 lakh between new Dominar and new Duke 390, so decided to go with used Duke (because of my budget
).

Re: Which one to get - New Dominar or Used Duke 390?
I think the decision mainly depends upon which used Duke 390 you're going to get and its mileage on ODO as well. If you decide to choose the used Duke 390, I think the resale value will be lower than that of the new Dominar. Also I'm skeptical whether the previous gen Duke 390s were BS4 compliant, if they were not then the resale value is going to take even more hit. Only you can decide by weighing all these things against the extra bhp the D390 offers.
If I were you, I would pick a new Dominar.
So +1 for new Dominar.
Cheers!

D390 - you might have lower resale value, but D400, it's a cruiser with good power, so you will definitely have an upgrade with either bikes.Originally posted by pkthapa View PostI own white ZMR (2013) model and always felt good in cities. D390 - you might have to modify it a little to scratch your "touring" itch.. however with the D400, just add a windshield for a max of 500 Rs, and you are set to go.. it is a good bike..

Re: Which one to get - New Dominar or Used Duke 390?
Used 390 is a strict no-no unless you personally know the owner. Most Dukes are abused and getting a good maintained one will be finding a needle in haystack. Remember, Duke 390 engine parts are expensive if you get a banged one, you will have to shell out a lot of money.
Dominar will be the right one to go. I have both with me here and Riding both of them back to back, you wont feel much difference. Duke pulls harder in top end, however Dominar has amazing low-end pull and is a fantastic bike overall.
Duke is more loaded however Dominar is just as good. Its cheaper and you will get a new bike for the price.
Remember, the used Duke will be the older version, so you are getting a last gen bike.Street racing is for Squids trying to make up for their small equipment

Thanks for the suggestion brother. I would like to know one more thing about D400. How easily can D400 cruise in 120kmph and what is the rpm attained at that speed compared to D390? Does D400 vibrate or produce too much noise at 120kmph?Originally posted by riot View PostUsed 390 is a strict no-no unless you personally know the owner. Re: Which one to get - New Dominar or Used Duke 390?
Its my pleasure brother. 120kmph is achieved at around 7500rpm and Dominar can cruise at 120kmph all day long and engine is super relaxed at that speed. Its like cruising at 80kmph on ZMR.Originally posted by pkthapa View PostThanks for the suggestion brother. I would like to know one more thing about D400. Neither are creamy smooth at 120 as both have slight vibes however it is more of a characteristic vibe than stressed engine vibe. My D400 has run approx 700kms so far and it is too new to create any engine noise. However, as it has Duke derived engine, I am sure it wont have any noise in the future either.
If you have a budget for brand new D390 then there is still no replacement for that bike in Indian market unless you pass the 4.5L mark.
Overall, riding them back to back, there is no reason to pick up a old used D390 over a brand new Dominar unless you are into street fighters, want a wheelie friendly bike and are really in love with Duke.Street racing is for Squids trying to make up for their small equipment
