  • Need help in choosing bike

    Hi All,
I am planning to buy Karizma sports.
I mainly use bike for going office twice in a week and for touring.
When went for Test Drive, Showroom guy said that it gives only 30km/l (As per 80% customer feedback) .
    Is that so?
Also I would like to know the other details like:- Performance, Maintenance and resale value etc..

Other bikes in my mind is Unicorn(But I am not impressed with it looks)
    Suzuki GS150R(Balck) 2009- 2012
Yamaha R15 V2(LE white) 2012 and Honda Dio V2 Matte

Hmmm... Its true that you might get around 30... But i guess a lot of people are also getting mileage around the range of 35kmpl... It depends on how you ride the bike and maintain it... I think for the perfromance that you get out of Karizma the mileage that it gives is apt...
As for the performance, maintenance- This bike really shines when it comes to performance and maintenance... Its really a hassle free bike if you service during regular intervals... Its one of the best tourers in india so it would surely serve your purpose... As for after sales that is also very good...

As for the unicorn... Its a bike in a different segment so you cant expect performance of the likes of Karizma... But again it has its own plus points like excellent mileage, very refined engine, reliable and decent power. As for the looks they have tried to bring in some cosmetic changes. It looks better than before now. U can try the Moto Gp( i think thats what it is called) with the white, green and blue paint job...

Now the main thing that you would have to decide on is what exactly you want off your steed... If it is good power and relaxed cruising at high speeds then i would say Karizma. If you want good mileage(around 50-55) packed with decent power then i would say unicorn..

What is the top speed of Unicorn?
        Some site says it's 101km/h.

I checked few showrooms for the Grandprix model.
They were limited editions and not available now.

How about GS150R when campared to Unicorn?

Please let us know your riding style, especially when touring.
IMO, GS is a better bike IMO compared to the Unicorn, due to the new age features. Smoothness&reliability are similar. Both are executive commuters fundamentally.
          Quench my thirst with gasoline!

Unicorn top speed surely is higher than that... I think it is around 110km/h... And GS150R as far as reviews go is a very good bike... Do visit the GS150R ownership thread to know more... If you are thinking about the GS150R then the only prob i have heard about with the bike is that it is heavy... Take a test ride and see how you feel...

Whats the point in riding a zma as a splendor just for the sake of milege.

On road milege of zma is in the range of 25-30kmpl...

I don't know about the older ZMAs but the newer ones definitely give 35 kmpl, even when ridden harshly.

You don have to ride the ZMA like a splendor to get good mileage... Mileage goes down when bikes are driven harsh... Revved hard... Accelerated with high rpms... By not doing such things the bike will give 35 and above with no probs...

42 kmpl is what I get consistently. My daily driving is about 80 km per day with a pillion - both at crawling speeds (<5kph) and at high speeds (~90 kph) in a few stretches. Heck! it returned me around 35kmpl on the leh ride!

there's something seriously wrong with the zma returning < 30 km/lit.

Cruise at around 80-90 and zip past the annoying trucks when required on highways

Think you are driving Unicorn/Pulsar 150/gs150 at around 80-90 and you need to overtake another vehicle comfortably without stressing your wrist and your bike engine while touring

this is where bikes like puslar 220/r15/zma stands apart as they can do a speed of 100 very easily and without any stress on the engine

the extra power really helps while cruising and overtaking other cars/trucks comfortably on highways

When checked with Honda Site it says about Top speed of 100km/h.

Please tell me if you get more than that in Unicorn...
Even my frnd get near 110km/h in his Glamour.

Also tell about the pickup of this copared to Pulsar 150.

To add more to my confusion there is GS150R in corner.

How is this compared to Unicorn?
In looks it's better than Unicorn. Want to know about performance.

I use bike for office going and atlest few long rides in every month.
                          Please throw some light

^^^ GS150R won't be very different from the Unicorn in performance and it would give a little more top speed - may be another 5 KMPH but the point is that the engine would be less stressed than that of the Uni at that point (read as 6th gear).

A Uni can do 110-115 on Speedo at full throttle.

Karizma, even the first lot ones give 35-38 KMPL in decently spirited city riding. If one rips and rides like a crazy guy, dunno how much it would return.

Did test drive in Uni an GS.

GS is really lukin super in real.
Really impressed. As guys said engine is refined. All I can say is supersmooth. But donno much about suzuki services and spare parts. As I am from Bangalore, GS owners(Suzuki bike owners). Pls give ur opinion about service in bangalore.

Uni as other XBHPians say again super cool somothness. But whatever GS steal all points in terms of luks.
