• Trying to find a bike for my uncle

Greetings to every single member on xbhp. Firstly I would like to thank everyone in xBhp for helping me find the right motorcycle for me, I.e, Honda CBR250R. Amazing bike. Thank you for that.
And now, since I found my bike with your best suggestions, I would like another help in suggesting a bike for my uncle who wants for only city use. He had a hero Honda xtreme (first launched model) till date until he met with an accident and now the bike is completely messed up. He has thought about yamaha fz, Honda hornet, etc as of now. And strictly against apache. Your help will be really helpful. Thank you.

Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

Give your details here if you want to help your fellow xBhpian stranded in your city

Re: Trying to find a bike for my uncle

Hornet 160 makes more sense for a family guy. The single pillion seat is good for pillion, although it is high. Looks are subjective, but compared to the FZ it does look a bit mature and grown up.

FZ makes more sense for a single guy, the looks are young and funky, the split pillion seat adds to the sportiness, although seat height is still an issue here.

Both being Japanese are absolute gems in terms of engine refinement and reliability.
Honda bikes had a history of flopping and then going out of sales in short time (Dazzler being an example), but Hornet seems to be going strong. Hope it won't suffer the same fate as other Honda bikes. FZ on the other hand was always the best selling bike of Yamaha stable, so no worries there. It has always been a hit.

My advice would be to take test rides of both of these back to back if possible and then choose the one that suits your uncle's needs the best. You cannot go wrong with any of these.

I would like to thank my legs for supporting me, my arms for being always by my side and my fingers; I could always count on them.

Thank you Ankey for your valuable suggestion. Will surely do that. And if you have any other option in mind apart from these two and apache (uncle doesn't like), it would be helpful.
Cheers.

Have you looked at Suzuki Gixxer yet??
If possible take a look at gixxer as well, the ownership thread is filled with good reviews about it and can be considered as an option along with the other 2 Japs.
This too being a Jap is absolute worth the money, although the owners have reported hard gear shifts for first few months, the problem seemed to be sorted as the engine was run in for a few thousand kms (Lets say by second service). All in all a good option to consider and the fresh new look with Japanese quality is always welcome.

Take a look at the ownership thread to see how its serving its owners, you can ask specific questions to them regarding the bike, they would be better in answering them with detail.
Again, take test rides and let us know what you think.

You can also have a look at SZ-RR from Yamaha. This is a no-nonsense bike. The single seat will aid those who do not want a sporty pillion seat.
A bike on the road is worth two in the shed.
