  • Need help to safeguard from"After Marriage Scared for my Bike Life" syndrome

Dear Brothers, I am in a crisis situation (mentally, of course) where my family has gone crazier than Batman's nemesis, Joker with respect to my marriage.
I have this fear that I'll not be able to get home my own big bike and Thar/Bolero if I get married. I currently own a humble P220 and really scratching my head to get any of the following bikes. I know my P220 will turn into Platina and Thar/Bolero dreams will turn into Alto 800 or even Datsun or worst nightmare, WagonR.
I have moved from Hyd to Pune, roughly 2 years ago. I have a tiny option and the cheapest one to pay the road tax of Maharashtra and "legalize" my P220 here in Pune.
Here is the list of bikes that keep on crossing my mind.
    Gixxer 155
    R15
    RS200
    FZ25
    Dominar.

Need suggestions as to which option should keep me happy and possibly safeguard me from ruining my biking experience.
    Regards,
    Akash Yadav

Buy what you want *before* you get married. That way, it's already a done deal; your prospective spouse/inlaws will know up front that you already have the vehicles. You can refute any complaints by pointing out that they knew you had the vehicles when you got married.

Once married, make every effort to highlight the usefulness of the SUV, i.e. pointing out how you'd never be able to fit that many people/grocery bags/packages into an Alto and still be able to sit comfortably. For the big bike, make an effort to take your spouse for gentle rides that don't freak them out, so they can see that the bike is no different from the smaller bikes most people ride. If anything, it's more comfortable because the suspension is better.

If you have a p220 then Dominar is the best option.

This looked like a Background check questionnaire for Armed Forces 😂🙌
Below are the answers to the questions bhai.

            1. Budget - 1.5 ish.
            2. Age - 29
            3. Height - 5'6" above ground floor/mother Earth.
            4. Weight - 65 kilos after meals.
            5. Intended usage (eg. Office/College commute, Highway runs, Racetrack usage, Weekend recreation riding etc.) - all purpose utilitarian bike. Mostly my usage is commuting to office(7.8 kms x 2).
            6. Fuel Efficiency requirement (approx., if any) - my Humble-Bee P220 gives me 40 kmpl. So near about that is fine.
            7. City & Highway percentage usage - Ohh, Ohh, this is tricky. When I was in Hyd, I had beautiful highways to ride on. Pune gives me awful roads and city rides.
            8. Approximate Daily / Monthly running - I am clocking about 400-450 kms per month, roughly, currently. It won't exceed 600 kms any time soon.
            9. City / Town /Village of residence (so we can evaluate road conditions / traffic / terrain / altitude / OTR pricing) - City - Pune. I did mention this in my original 911 emergency post.
            10. Brand / Bike type preference (if any) - Ohh Ohh Yamaha, may be Bajaj because they aren't really good out here in Pune(strange since it's their home), Suzuki. I've owned a Pulsar 150, A Duke 200 and now P220. So it has been Bajaj till now. Had a Honda too but I don't want to talk about it. It pains me the same as pre-independence British atrocities.

For your requirements and budget, Dominor and FZ25 are suitable. For any of them, you need to compromise on the FE part a bit. Dominor scores high on power and features while FZ25 scores in refinement and build quality.

Is the dominar OK for short guys below 5'8"?

Depends on how the rider manages. But yes, riding posture is more friendly for taller people.

                    Go with Fz25.

                    1. It's under your budget.
                    2. Suitable for your age
3&4. Not a problem. Fz25 weights less than dominor. So you can easily manage.
                    5. Good for mixed usages.
                    6. Better than Dominor.
7,8&9. Suitable for your ride schedule.
                    10. Yemaha - well known for its reliability.

I am not going to recommend you a bike, that part of the job our brothers have already done. My suggestion would be FZ25 as a mandate answer for your bike query.
Here is a bit of my suggestion on the scared part of after marriage effect. You being scared of after marriage situation is totally fine, its the same crisis I have gone thru before my marriage and most would have gone thru the same. But for you to stick to your wishlist, its all in how you prioritize your wishlist and prepare for it. Only way is to imbibe that confidence in your wife and parents that you are taking a informed decision and not wasting your money for a useless cause. For all this to happen it takes some time may be years, till then use your current bike or the bike which you are about to buy to the fullest.

Can't help you out on the marriage crisis as I am just 18. As for the Bikes I have been safely and sanely riding the Dominar for 2000 kms and boy-o-boy whenever I visit my home after a few months going back from college and I sit on the saddle it is something so damn special to me. It has everything a rider need it looks great it is sensible enough for daily commutes, you get emotionally attached to it and can give you all the thrills at the slit twist of the wrist.
                        Cheers

My vote is 100% for Dominar. Always go for the most powerful bike you can afford (in cash).

Compared to the FZ25, the Dominar would give you around 25 kmph extra speed, and ABS to save you.

Coming from p220, the FZ25 would be not much of an upgrade.
