• which Bike - Utterly Confused..........

Hello All,

Back on forums after long break. Have been riding. But now got in state of utter confusion.

Bit of Brief about me and my rides - Have been riding since school college days, must be 20 odd years. Now I am 37 yrs, 5'7", 85 Kg. You must be wandering why I am giving these details but these will be useful in selection of my ride. Now about my previous rides - Started with Hero Honda CD100, then rode Honda Unicorn for five years, Avenger for two years, CBR for six months or so, RE Bullet / CL350 for balance. Current ride of mine is CL350. Touchwood, bike has not given any problems and it has never left me stranded on road. Had enjoyed long long rides on RE's. But off late more of my rides have become solo and there is always fear of Bull giving issues during rides. Sometimes it makes ride un-enjoyable. Hence the urge to shift to some relatively more reliable ride. I generally like to ride in range of 90 - 110 KMPH and am not spped hungry. Mentioned range gives me riding pleasure. Looking for bikes which are niggle free, reliable for solo touring with comfortable posture (i know there is nothing like perfect ride, but ride should be relatively easy to maintain and certainly very very less visits to ASC / mechanic. Now the Budget: My Bull is less than 1.5 Years old and i would prefer to buy new ride which will preferably not cost me anything above the price i will get from my bull. Started reading about Dominar400 and FZ25: But ownership threads show lots and lots of issues with both - it got me more confused though i like looks of both bikes. Then leaned back towards Avenger 220 as it has not got Tube less tyres too (reliefe from one of major worries for any solo rider - puncture).

So please help by advising what to do.....Is there any news about Avy coming with bigger engine? If yes, deal will be sealed probably.

Query Approved

Ownership threads are always a grief fest

Owners who have problems post more often, because the owners without any problems are out enjoying their ride!!
Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

Give your details here if you want to help your fellow xBhpian stranded in your city

hats_bhatia - you've gone through a lot of bikes in the past years.

Ive heard of guys changing the tyres of the Bullet to tubeless, alloys. Perhaps you can try that before selling it?

PS : what happened with the cbr250, It had problems?

Dear, Tyres are one part. Nothing wrong happened with ceeber, just could not adjust to her riding posture.

No bike is perfect! Every bike has plus and minus points. You need to weigh your preference and requirements.
FZ25 is a very good product against the price it commands. Yes, there are issues like absence of ABS and relatively weak headlights - but those should not be a deal breaker. Again, I doubt whether Avenger 220 will be able to do ~ 100 kmph all day long - may be good for short bursts but not all day long I guess.

krishna77 - it's got the same p220 engine right? Afaik, the p220 can do around 120 kmph all day, all other things being perfect. Although the engine becomes more harsh.

Haven't personally experienced Bajaj bikes, just a info from an owner.

hats_bhatia - I'm unable to suggest a good bike for you, other than Hornet and Gixxer SF FI ABS. That's what I would buy, if I was in the market for a reliable, tubeless tyre motorbike around 1 Lakh.

I believe the P200NS has ABS too, now. It's a good bike, but the seat height may be a bit high for you.

Yes you are right. But, there is a difference of almost 2 bhp between P220 and Avenger 220. While the top speed of Avenger 220 is between 115-120 kmph, the top speed of P220 is around 135. So, the P220 can do ~ 100kmph almost all day but the comfortable cruising range for Avenger 220 is around 80-85 kmph.

I am not sure how comfortable pulsar will be. I am more leaning towards Fz25. Will try and get td of bikes this weekend

I would suggest u to do have a look on apache rtr200... Its a bloody good bike. U can easily tour on it with the speed of 100 to 110 all day long without giving stress to the engine!....

Update: Had TD of Dominar and FZ25. Fz25 first: omg!!!!! What attitude of salespeople. Longer td not available, can't gv td on highway, Plz drive on service lane and pay us 1.4 lakhs......did ride bike for few meters on service road - very heavy handle. Rest nothing much to understand..my bull has better handling than this.
Now Dominar: people ready for giving td. Had two rounds of td...one solo and one with wife as pillion...this bike has got power, what acceleration, Tried sudden breaking and wow.....how well it stops, coming from bull, D is easy to maneuver in city traffic....just suspension is very stiff...bike not comfortable on bad roads...

Shoot a complaint on yamaha website, they will give you a longer test ride or try another dealership.
