Buying New Bike
I used Yamaha RX-100 for 20 years. Now I am planning to purchase new bike. Please suggest out of Hornet, Gixer, FZS F1 or any other in 150 cc.

Re: Buying New Bike
Query Approved
I believe the Hornet is the most comfortable of the lot.Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!
Give your details here if you want to help your fellow xBhpian stranded in your city

Re: Buying New Bike
A happy Hornet 160R owner here.
I was in the same dilemma few months ago ( You can see my posts here
). And I chose Hornet 160.
There are standard commuters like Unicorn 150/160, Yamaha SZ-RR, etc. They give 50+ kmpl FE easily, comfort for rider and pillion, classic or an executive style, and are one step ahead of those 100-125 cc bikes.
Then there are sporty commuters like Hornet, Gixxer, FZ, NS 160 etc. They give FE in 40+ kmpl range easily ( 50+ kmpl for sane riders). They look sporty with sculpted tanks, bikini fairings, wider tires and some fancy stuffs here and there. Engine tuned for an entry level performance. Suited for solo riding ( pillion may complain of higher seat height, smaller and inclined space). They do all the jobs of commuters plus a more engaging and enthusiastic ride.
You can choose wisely. Why I said this because this is how I came to my choice. You may have researched better than me .
Now on Hornet 160R. Definitely a big bike than the competitors. A mature styling and performance. Good specs but performance delivered smoothly.
Young riders @ 20s choose FZ or Gixxer as they have a grunt in low range. Hornet do the same silently. The peak outputs are @6k rpm with a grunt.
FE 50+ kmpl. Stiffer ride with better handling. F and R disc brakes with combi braking performs well but lacks initial bite. Pillion seat is better than that in others. I think this suits for tall or heavy riders( Testride to find the comfort).
Engine specs don't vary much in the segment. 14 bhp and 15 bhp feels the same. But the overall ride feel differ. So test ride the shortlisted bikes and also look for them in the road. You may get that spark...and you won't be wrong.
I have seen 40 aged people riding FZ but not Gixxer and Hornet ( I live in a village
). Maybe they are looking for someone to volunteer.
Wishes for your would-be ride.
