  • Please help me in choosing a bike

Hi! every one I want to buy my first bike. I'm aged 25 and height 165 cm. Please suggest me a bike under 1 lakhs. I have experience with 110 CC bikes but I never owned one.
Whenever I see FZ-25 or RTR 200 I feel the crush to own them. But, I'm afraid of their weight as I have very little experience on traffic roads. With my first bike I have to over come the fear and build confidence. I always admire the people when they are on their KTMs or Yamaha YZF R15 or any other premium bikes on a high way ride dreaming I also will be going on a ride one day. Please help me in choosing a bike and help to become a better rider one day

    Query Approved

Both the FZ25 and the Apache 200 would be a good buy. Weight is no problem. You will get used to in a week. Don't worry about such minor things.
Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

Give your details here if you want to help your fellow xBhpian stranded in your city

I would suggest you to go for pulsar 200ns, as it's your first bike, you may want a local make vehicle that would be easy on pockets when it comes to service. NS is a rugged machine and more powerful than RTR. I own NS and have fallen countless number of times, most of the times there was no damage at all, few times I paid less than a grand for entire repairs.
Maintenance too is fairly easy. Suspensions can be adjusted is you feel the seat is too high.
You also get abs(from January mostly) which will keep you safe.
I have used mine for 4 years under harshest conditions and it has never failed. I've done off-road trips, long tours, and nonsensical city riding (during my initial riding days). Engine is still in great condition and gives 35kmpl on mixed (city and highway) conditions.
It comes with a tag on 1.09 on road, which is 9k over your specified budget. But worth it. It is also great with handling in traffic as well as on highways as high speeds. There's just one issue with New NS, that is its Eurogrip Tyres. It's a misnomer. They have absolutely no grip. You may want to change it for your own good. Had I changed them earlier I wouldn't have fallen so many times (maybe).

Also get the right (good quality and good fit) and necessary gears along with the bike. Helmet, jacket, gloves etc
      Hope this helps you.
      Ride safe!

Re: Please help me in choosing a bike

I recently (2000km ago) bought my first bike and was trying to narrow it down from similar options - FZ25, NS200, Apache 200.

Rejected FZ25 due to tappet issues being reported here, and its relatively higher price. It is quite a nice bike though.

Test rode the other 2 and picked the Apache because it was easier to ride. Both bikes are relatively similar. I did not like any of the NS200 colours and the decals are terrible TBH, the old NS200 looks way better. The Apache's exahust note is amazing. On the flip side, the NS200 probably has better braking and definitely has more power. The Apache is a very spirited bike though and wants you to treat it badly and throw it around.

I feel both are quite similar options with their own pros/cons and you can pick between them fairly safely.

Go for Pulsar 200 ns, which is now available with abs. You won't regret it. Make sure you take a test ride before buying it.

Vijay, have you decided on anything yet?
A bike on the road is worth two in the shed.
