  • Ex-RE TB 350 - Looking to buy new RE Standard or Electra 350

I had Thunderbird 350 for last 4 years. Faced many issues with high maintenance cost. For example many local mechanics are reluctant to repair flat rear Tyre due to disc brake presence.

Now I had sold it and looking to buy new RE. I dont feel like buying any other bike which can match RE feel and price we pay for that.

My dilemma is Standard 350 or Electra 350

    1. People report back pain in Classic 350 so rejected it - Standard 350
    2. Will extra height of Electra or standard result in better right quality? - If yes then standard 350
    3. Less Maintenance cost attracts me to Standard 350 over Electra - Standard 350
    4. Is drum brake risky in city use? Minimal highway use. - If not then standard 350
    5. Will kick start give hard time to start the bike every time? - If not standard 350
    6. Is Crankshaft of standard 350 is heavier than other electra 350 resulting is different riding experience? - If yes standard 350 just to feel special.
    7. Better mileage in city - Standard 350

Apart from above i love the design and macho look of standard 350. It is real BULLET..!!

Suggestions needed to decide whether my understanding / expectations from standard 350 is right.

    Thanks,
    Kishore S

Hello Kishore one of my friends has a bullet 350 he is happy with his bike but his concerns are
        1. Such heavy bike should have disk brake
        2. Sometimes if you stall it in traffic you sorely miss self start.
primarily if you are going to use the bike only in city you can consider classic too.
PS i am in similar dilemma whether to buy gunmetal grey or DS

My personal experience is dont go for gun metal grey because of rear disc brake. Most of the puncture shops will not touch your bike if rear wheel is punctured or charge you heavy.

Also rear wheel rotation is not smooth. I dont know exactly why. But most of the mechanics tell me its because of rear disc break.

well that's odd i have not ridden gun metal grey but it comes with TB's swingarm as we know. if the rotation is an issue due to disc brake i think wheel alignment is not right. i have a tire repair shop near my home he hasn't any issues with rear disc brake bikes as he doesn't get wheel off from bike he just use main stand and get it repaired. i have not heard puncture repair guys complaining about disc brake.

Yeah took test ride and it was completely different riding experience. Heavy crank shows the difference.
