Re: First bike?

Choose a lighter easier bike to ride as your first machine. The C GT might not be the best if you have zero motorcycling experience.Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!
Give your details here if you want to help your fellow xBhpian stranded in your city

Re: First bike?
Why buy a discontinued bike? When the bike was in production owners were complaining of parts. Now the situation is gonna get worse and you will be running around looking for parts a few years from now.Originally posted by Itsnotme456 View PostI am planning to purchase a used royal enfield continental gt for around 1.6lakhs that has done around 7000 km and is in very good condition. What can I expect from the bike and what other options do I have at that price point? Is it an ok option for a first bike?
Check out the dealers in your area; o for the Dominar, or CBR250 if you want a simple bike with ABS.

Re: First bike?
+ 1 to Monk sir's and leech sir's advice.
I would also like to add is that RE is not a benchmark when it comes to reliability and niggle free ownership. There is always one thing or another jamming, or leaking or getting loose or giving trouble. You never know what may go kaput and when. Its trouble enough to learn a new skill but add RE tantrums to it and you will be frustrated (most of the very experienced owners are). Not at all a good way to start learning. Start on a reliable machine, even if that is a splendor. So that you can focus on learning to ride, not wondering why the damn thing won't start in the morning and what the hell went wrong with it.I would like to thank my legs for supporting me, my arms for being always by my side and my fingers; I could always count on them.

Unless you want that retro hipster look of GT, please add ₹10,000 extra and get a brand new Dominar 400 ABS instead. For a first bike you will love it!
Wish I had a choice like that in 2012 when I bought my first bike the Duke 200.
Cheers!

Re: First bike?
I would really like Ktm but my father said I should start on something more stable and less rev happy and flickable than the ktm. So the same argument might take place regarding the dominar. This bike that is going to be purchased is going to be used for a year and probably sold after that and then I would get a ktm. That is why I was looking at the continental gt. For some reason I don't fancy the cbr250r ( don't kill me). It might be a brilliant bike but I don't get it. Any other suggestions would be welcome. Some details I should have added
Height : 5'6"-5'7"
Weight : 68kg
Budget : 1-1.6 lakh (looking at used)

Re: First bike?
Then close your eyes and get the FZ25. For your height and weight will fit easily. Good low-end torque. Good comfy seats. Good sporty looks for that youth college image. Nice fuel economy and will not depreciate heavily like the Continental GT.Originally posted by Itsnotme456 View PostI would really like Ktm but my father said I should start on something more stable and less rev happy and flickable than the ktm.
