  • Sr 150 or which vehicle

    Hi,
I am a RE TB user for the last 3 years. I have a cervical problem for some time which got initiated from riding a TB.
I reside in Greater Noida and travel to Gurgaon for work, total round commute 160kms daily, 70% highway runs and 30% city run.
My touring has reduced to 600kms one day runs in 2-3 months.
I do not ride over 80 since the 350 mill does not enjoy over that.
I am looking for a vehicle which will give me performance upto 90 kmph on highways and a mix of good Delhi City traffic performance upto 60 kmph.
The reason I want to opt for SR is for a mixed performance and a light weight vehicle owing to my shoulder.
My budget entirely depends on sale of my TB which practically goes for 80k, hence am looking for FZ's and Dominar's.
Can the Sr handle my requirement

    Topic Approved.

SR150 should be a good choice. The SR 150 tops at around 110 kmph, so 90 should be ok once in a while. The low weight should be manageable well (122 kgs or so).

Of course, suspension is an important factor given your health concerns, so do give it a good test ride, and see if it suits you... Because from whatever little I've heard, the suspension is NOT for bad roads. Its made keeping handling over comfort, in mind.

Although, I would suggest that you wait a little, we might soon see an updated SR150...
It will probably feature adjustable suspension, which should do good for your needs.

My entire route is tarmac expressway and highway , including the deteriorating Delhi roads. The vehicle which I am looking for should run 80-85 on the highways continuously and 60 on city roads.
The reason I am looking for a scoot than a bike is because of low weight and city maneuvebility, and the freedom from clutches and gears.
I am a bit dubious on the long term ownership of the SR. I don't see much presence on the roads, parts availibility might be an issue. Also the vehicle will have to run the same route 5 days in a week. Will the Sr show signs of fatigue from the consultant gruel.
I do have a car but driving in Delhi Ncr is a different story altogether.

The SR150 is surely a good vehicle but putting 160 km daily on a scooter would be asking for too much I guess. Also, maintaining 90 kmph on a scooter will put the engine under a lot of stress. You can opt for a comfortable bike rather. The Avenger twins, Unicorn or the SZ-RR should fit the bill. Being lower capacity bikes, all of the mentioned bikes give good FE and comfort. The higher you go i terms of power, the comfort gets reduced. All these can do 80-90 kmph for several hours.
A bike on the road is worth two in the shed.

I am not inclined to Avy because of the cruiserish position which is the culprit for my cervical. Unicorn 150 is not sold here as per the dealership, however I know its production. If I opt for a motorcycle, FZ15, Hornet would fit the bill being japs in the 150 segment . If I stretch to the 200Cc zone NS seems to be a good bet. A bit higher I might pick up a Fazer 25. So in short the 100 and 125 cc bikes, and the even the 150 CC Scoots cannot endure the gruel.

The SR150 has a 5 litre tank. At 40Km/L you would need to refill petrol every second day.
Would a Honda Shine / Glamour suit your needs better, if not the Intruder.

I have a Jupiter at home which if I commute the same route finishes the fuel in one trip. So that's a tank full every day. I am okay with the tank range provided the vehicle engine can endure the run for long.
Prior to my TB, my P220 showed fatigue after doing 10k on the same route.
My TB is suffering the similar fate at 60k.
Shine will probably not be able to endure 80kmph 70% of the route.
Glamour with the Hero engine will definitely not.
The issue is I am not getting a good price for my TB. Its been immaculately maintained and still runs niggle free after 60k and 2 years unlike the issues RE's have. Plus it's heavily modded for touring purposes. What I am getting on OLX is around 85k. At that price I have limited options for a change.
