Yes, you can spend Rs. 2 Lacs on a Bajaj, if you can spend about 1.5 lacs (assuming) on a Royal Enfield. I think in terms of reliability, Bajaj is no worse than Royal Enfield. And things improve by every year, there. So, don't worry about that.
I also owned a Pulsar 180 for few years before moving on to Duke 390, which is again, assembled at the same Bajaj plant (Chakan, Pune).

Dominar is mostly receiving positive response so far, with no big issues.


One more good choice I can suggest is Mahindra Mojo 300. I know Mahindra might not get you excited, but they did make a good bike after all. They do not have a ABS option currently, but they plan to have one soon.


Without ABS, you actually are improving your riding skill, specifically braking skill.

So, if your heart says FZ, either wait for some time for the ABS variant (yes, some rumors suggest its coming next year), or go for it without ABS.

You can keep a habit of using only 2 fingers (or even 1) for braking, if the braking is too sharp for you.

As for the bike, I would suggest FZ25 as well. Not having the ABS is fine as long as you are within posted speed limits and have good Brake control.

Fz25 is a very good bike for city rides. Yamaha bikes always have good handling

Hi Vishwesh,

I would suggest you go for a bike with a dual channel ABS only.

It will be a life saver for sure as if you lockup any wheel during panic braking it will surely lead to a fall.

Either wait for the FZ25 to come with ABS which will be by April 2019 or buy the Dominar 400 with ABS. The extra weight and handling issues will get sorted out with practice.

Since you love FZ25, my choice would be the same. If you're a sedate and defensive rider FZ25 fits the bill, because you won't miss the ABS that much then. And you would've saved ₹60k over Dominar.

If you're slightly aggressive rider then Dominar 400 with ABS.

Both of them have good wide seats for both pillion and rider. Both of them have good handling, but FZ25 will be easy to flick in city streets and u turns. Dominar will have sturdy solid feel in long highway stretches at higher speeds.

FZ25 will give you better fuel economy and ride quality and Yamaha brand.

Dominar will give you better top end and brighter headlights and ABS, but it's costlier will have a slightly stiffer suspension than FZ25.

Choose what character you need.

+1 for Dominar. I don't care for slipper and assist clutch but ABS is one thing that a bike should have in 2018. No matter how good a rider you are, no matter how defensively you ride, there is bound to be a stray dog, any other animal or people behaving like animals crossing the road randomly, that situation will have you grabbing a handful of brakes and that's when you need ABS. The only 2 spills I had on a 2 wheeler in my 9 years of riding was because of people talking on phone and behaving like donkeys jaywalked on the road and the construction material on the road helped me kiss the road.

So if your budget allows go for the Dominar, the dual channel ABS is a must and the other bells and whistles are added bonus. And yes, it is worth spending 2 lakh rupees on a Bajaj. Its not Yamaha or Honda, but it is much much more reliable than RE. To be honest REs were never a benchmark when it came to reliability and niggle free ownership, its quite the contrary actually. So you can buy a Bajaj with peace of mind and you need not worry about any issues other than regular servicing.

If not the FZ 25 is the next best thing.

Hey my friend has dominar and by mistake he filled 1.6 ltr and so engine oil while servicing his bike, even though when checked the marks the engine oil level was slightly touching the top mark . He has ridden his bike 250 km maintaining the speed of 80 to 90 everything is working fine, smoothness is there performance is there and not even much heating problem . Is there something that we need to do with bike or let it be as it is I am confuse please help me here
