  • Help me buy first Superbike

    Hello friends,
I am Mandar and riding/touring R15 v1 for past 7 years. I have decided to upgrade my bike . I am interested in Ducati Monster 797. Well my budget is 10 lakhs. My requirements are not so committed riding position , low cost of ownership, not so expensive spares. Please help me choose one. Thanks.
    Regards,
    Mandar

    Query Approved

Ducati won't be low cost of ownership and cheap spares!!!
Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

Give your details here if you want to help your fellow xBhpian stranded in your city

You might want to look into the Honda CBR 650f.
Good bike for touring, cheap spares, low cost of ownership and it is also well within your budget.

        Hi,

Please wait for the GSX-S750 which Suzuki is bringing via CKD in April or May, price will be mostly below ₹7.9 ex-shwroom. It looks like the elder brother of Gixxer 155(subtle but aggressive) but sounds like a Lambo(with Yoshimura), and is almost as fast as a Z900. Spares and Maintenance will be definitely cheaper than Ducati. This is one of my dream machines for which I'm eagerly waiting too.

See CBR650F is also a great choice with low maintenance costs, but the handlebar position will be slightly more aggressive than R15v1. But I feel for the power and torque figures it's not VFM.

If you don't mind spending a little more extra the new Street Triple 765S is also an awesome motorcycle. It would feel like an R15 up to 5000rpm but after that it will go like a rocket. It's the lightest motorcycle in this segment too. Superb brakes, sublime almost car like suspension from Showa, superb damping you will never feel small potholes or highway expansion joints. That sweet triple exhaust note. First service cost at 800-1000kms is ₹7k-8k. After that only after 15,000kms, which will also cost the same. Hence yearly service costs are cheaper than Kawasaki. Personally I believe Triumph is at least one-two levels above it's Japanese rivals in terms of quality and fit and finish.

I'm not recommending the Z900 as of now due to some throttle body fueling/ idling issues in India.

My pick for you would be the Street Triple 765S for you, take a test ride and see.

        Cheers!
