  • Most comfortable bike under 2.5 Lacs

    About my riding:

60-65 km daily commute in peak traffic and bad roads.
A short road trip once in 3 months (100-300 km oneway)
I ride very defensively never exceeding speed limits.
I own a FZ16. It is not in running condition anymore (due to poor maintenance). I was not happy with its riding position but liked its power in low-mid range. I didn't find it stable once it crossed 90 kmph (on highways).

    Priorities

    1. Comfort (both rider and pillion). Comfort is my top priority. Nothing else matters more. I will be traveling with my wife and kid. I prefer an upright riding position.
    2. Low maintenance
    3. ABS
    4. Reliability (should not cause hiccups in the middle of a ride)
    5. Durability (Must be functional at least for 10 years. My FZ16 worked fine for 8 years despite poor maintenance)

    Budget
    2.5 Lacs

Really like the fact that you have made ABS are one of the requirements.
Since there is a lot of riding in peak traffic, you should stay below 250cc to avoid heating and poor mileage issues. That eliminates many bikes..the left ones after the filter are apache 200, pulsar rs200,cbr250. Amongst these cbr has the sportiest stance and would not exactly be comfortable. And since your riding style is sedate apache 200 would be the best bet.. take the one with fuel injection

For comfort Apache 200 would be the best due to its riding position. And TVS makes one of the most reliable engines in India.

Poor mileage is not an issue as long as I get at least 24-25 km per litre.
I am not sure about the pillion comfort in Apache 200. Do you guys have an idea?

Did test drive of Dominar and Fazer 25. Did not like Fazer's seating position and braking but it offered a very smooth ride. Dominar was a surprise. Did not expect such performance from Bajaj. Found it very comfortable while riding. But I am not sure how durable and reliable Bajaj would be considering that I am very poor in maintaining a bike. Yamaha/Honda will suit me better.

Went to Honda showroom. They expect CBR 2018 to arrive in 45-60 days.

Yet to try Apache 200. Not happy with Intruder's braking performance despite the single channel ABS.

Dropped the idea of Himalayan (which used to be my first preference) after reading the ownership experiences.

Mahindra mojo sounded good but the absence of ABS and service centers is keeping me away.

I am not sure if I should wait for CBR 250R or try my luck on Dominar or wait for new bikes to be launched.

Re: Most comfortable bike under 2.5 Lacs

Guys I have shortlisted the following three bikes:

            1. Dominar 400 - Test ride done - Happy with the comfort and braking. I am not sure about durability and maintenance.

            2. CBR 250R - Not available in showrooms. Need to wait for a couple of months. A proven bike where I cannot go wrong. However the riding position is very sporty. I would prefer an upright riding position

            3. Apache RTR 200 4V ABS - Yet to test ride. It does not feel premium unlike Dominar 400 and CBR 250. Heard it is comfortable and has ABS too. I am not sure how about durability and maintenance.

            What do you guys recommend?
